    New Music You're Listening To

The Vodoun Effect is indeed great, but I think African Scream Contest is even better: It covers a similar area in time and space, but has a bunch of other great acts as well as the Orchestre Poly Rythmo.

    Bus from London to Paris

I've done the opposite direction - it's not much hassle as long as you can sleep on a bus. That said, Eurostar is £58 return if you can book in advance.

    New Music You're Listening To

New Georgia Anne Muldrow is nice, but not much in the way of surprises. I'm glad I got it half price.

    Disco thread

One aspect of disco - the smooth, elegant, "white" version - is brilliantly captured by this Tom Savarese mix from 1978: http://www.djhistory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33997 It's not my favourite side of the genre, though; I'd rather go for these: YouTube - Sesso Matto - Sessomatto YouTube -...

What movie did you watch last night?

Mesrine: Killer Instinct. Very entertaining, similar concept to that Public Enemies film but with hand grenades and good acting. I'm looking forward to seeing the second installment, something tells me it will be the two-part criminal biopic of the year.

Could you be a UK citizen?

It's fair enough: Irish in the UK don't get to elect the queen or vote in constitutional referenda either.

What do you have to get to pass? 15/24 - obviously I've learned 2.5 useful things each year I've lived in the UK.

    New Music You're Listening To

I was a bit disappointed by Ambivalence Avenue, given all the love it's getting - it reminds me of a slightly less good Notwist album. Just got this today, it's ace:

    good record shops in london

Honest Jon's and Sounds of the Universe are probably my two favourite record shops anywhere. Rough Trade is almost my least favourite - they have a good selection but are always ridiculously overpriced. CD albums for £18 that you can get for £10 in Honest Jon's just down the road from RT...
