I'd advise reading the whole transcript. i had a different voice in my head.

But I thought it was interesting, when you consider Bezos et al, that a nice experience on a jet leads to megalomania.

As an aside, yerman outta Wolf of Wall Street still only travels by private jet, even though all his profits only go to paying back all the people he fucked over. In a legal sense he has less money than me. He says it's because he's quite busy. I dunno, that's a different thing maybe.

Frum's opening spiel on Iran is delusional. Never mentioned Palestine as he blindly supports Israel.
They are both up to their necks in trad American elite political / media crap but congratulate themselves for observing some absurdities of it and having more awareness than Trump's crew.

They were the type who would get N Sync to play their daughter's 11th birthday and on a whim could travel anywhere in the world as a plane would be waiting for them whenever they fancied it and airport security was not a thing.

once did some work for an extremely wealthy eurotrash type, who had got into yoga and mindfulness and not wearing shoes, that kind of thing. he had an occasional side gig being a therapist of sorts for other extremely wealthy people. once it was explained to me it made a certain kind of sense. plenty of rich people are miserable, some of them want therapy, but if you are extremely rich and you want some kind of way to be emotionally on-the-level with your therapist, you need your therapist to also be extremely wealthy.

probably mentioned before, but i went to school with a lad whose dad was (is) a billionaire. i think he (the lad i was at school with) was less affected by money in a way than the guys whose parents were millionaires, because money had become like water to he and his family, it had ceased to matter. some of the guys whose parents were mere millionaires wanted you to know they had money.

though i guess when you're as rich as he was, you *don't* want people to know you have money; especially in the 80s when kidnappings for ransom were still fresh in the mind; the whole don tidey affair had happened only 5 years before i started secondary school.

Frum said as a neo con, Trump attacking Iran made him feel weird - for praising Trump - not because it was a horrendous war crime.

Yes. I can just read it as it is because i want the insight into billionaires brains. I've lived in america, twice, lots of people think like that. they are 100% in touch with the environment they are functioning in - I don't have to agree with every single thing they say, and all told I've a fair idea that what is making you angry about it is that you don't often read outside an echo chamber?

I'm not even sure how you can agree/disagree with a contextual intro. The guy lays out exactly who he is and his political outlook, lays out what went down, lays out his relationship with the interviewee so you can proceed into it with 100% knowledge of who is steering the thing. Do you dislike that he's transpartent or is it just a cognitave dissonance buzz?

The US corporate media flood us with similar agendas to Frum and Tina Brown. They just have slightly more self awareness.

TBH i kinda get it in some ways.

was talking to someone i know who uses a wheelchair recently and they were talking about a call they got about getting a new chair. their overall estimation of the call was A: the person administering the chairs had never used one and B: the person who administered the chairs had a perception that if you use a chair, you exist only between the house, the post office and supervalue and have no hobbies or mates or whatever.

so in that way, someone who hasn't had to basically deal with being human for a while, if they are looking for a relatable therapist how are they gonna really be understood by someone drive themselves and make their own lunch and have to think about money.

I'm not saying billionaires are fucking great here btw - with my own chronic pain condition i've had multiple moments of 'have your tried paracetemol' for 20 years - and i'm not really annoyed to some degree because unless you've lived it, it is very hard to explain in a reliable way.

So i sorta get these billionares living in fairytale castle land not wanting a support system from another unrelateable world.

Loads of people are saying these things all the time.

Criticising people is EASY.

For example you are criticizing me for not taking on board something you didn't say about an article i didn't share on a thread about studying billionares as an outcrop of the human experience.

My attempt at comprehending this is that you are used to environments where people criticise bezos all day without going any further in the thought process, and because that article took you somewhere you are not used to, it's my fault.

Getting locked in 'i don't like billionaires' is easy. I'm more interested in learning whats going wrong with them as people at this point.
