not wanting to start a fight but i'm yet to hear anything by him that i've been particularly impressed with, could you point me towards a great song?

The self-titled debut is fantastic.
The 2nd one utopia parkway is not great.
Their 3rd one Welcome Interstate Managers is their strongest work.
The newest one - Traffic and Weather is not brilliant but the opening track Someone to Love is probably one of their best songs.

I just really like Fountains of Wayne, they write excellent pop songs.

I thought Iha was a chick when I first saw a pumpkins vid.

Never hugely impressed with FOW, and got just plain turned off when they did that awful single a few years ago
