You don't have to take fish oils to get your omegas. This stuff is supposed to be amazing for all sorts of skin complaints:

It's also good for the brain etc. I keep meaning to take it just as a general good thing, but I'm afraid of it being too oily. But when I worked in the health shop people with psoraiesisi (spppp???) got great results with this.

A fish kettle is a type of pan for cooking fish in.

This looks interesting- will give it a go

Id try sunbeds but in my current condition they'd think I had leprosy or plague or something

It's the pints. The pints do murder unto skin conditions and arsehole afflictions alike. My southern grapes scream a red fury after a night on the piss. Not that i'm about to quit mind; it's a small price to pay for a couple hours of blissfull emotional numbness.

Well, if you go to the places with standup tanning booth things you can 'bathe' in the nude with your modesty preserved.

Oh, does anyone else get psoriasis under their nails? If so what happened? Did you manage to get rid of it?

I'm currently worried that I'm going to lose a nail. Almost 1/3 of it is detached because of a patch under it

Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha.. yeah thats great fun, I get that too - but then I have the worst psoraiasis in the history of the world. Learn to love yourself and the world will smile with you. Look on the bright side, we have psoraic arthritis to look forward too in the coming years.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about the arthritic connection - SOB!

It truely sucks to be us... flaky red skin, most of the treatments can have fatal side effects - and a painful old age to look forward to!

Truely the only way to happily get through life is to stick to the principle that beauty is more than skin deep and act like your skin is invisible :D

I find that if I pretend I don't have psoriasis nobody else seems to notice either - or at least they don't comment.

(Oh, yeah, scalp wise using really mild shampoo and only washing my hair twice a week to avoid irritating it seems to keep it pretty much under control)

i recently got psoriasis so seeing what things could work is fucking class since my doctor just loves giving me steroid creams non-stop. gonna try some of this other stuff. my scalp is freaking ruined. also playing astro football has led to my knee being one bit mass of scales ew.

i joined that Psorias forum before, but those people scare me. they are the type who would call people without "P" normies or something....

ha- bet youre referring to this?

If you are in Dublin I recommend you go see Mr Foley in Foleys Chemist, Parnell Street ( Summerhill end)

He specialises in skin conditions and uses natural ingredients. The stuff he gave me for my head worked really well. I'm gong back to him tomorrow to see if he sort out the rest of me

cheers thanks for the tip!

dont know if it's been mentioned in this thred, but you could always travel to turkey where doctor fish will nibble your flaky skin.

somebody might have already said this but the water in the blue lagoon in iceland is meant to be really good for psoriasis. i dunno if its the actual water or the wird clay mud stuff in the bottom. as a non psoriasis sufferrer o can say its nice for a dip too. but when we were there, someone was saying that locals or whatever go thee weekly to help with skin afflictions.

theres always lourdes aswell.

Wowy, does everybody on Thumped have psoriasis? Hugs for all my buddies, it is such a depressing condition to have. My father is crippled with psoriac arthritis, so it's pretty grim to imagine that's what could be ahead of me.

Lefty, I have a product called S.O.S. Skin Rescue Cream that is specifically for treating psoriasis, eczema and dermititis as an alternative to steroid creams. It's made from 100% plant origin and smells quite nice too. I've found it to be the only thing besides topical steroids to work. You can get it from health stores or online. Unfortunately it's very expensive if you need to use it extensively, but I'd recommend even just using it on sensitive areas where you don't want to be dosing with steroids.

Here's a link to it, but I reckon if you shop around you should be able to find it a little cheaper:

has anyone who has difficulty digesting oil/fats tried this? last time i asked in a health shop i got a very helpful "that makes no sense" and i gave up because i didn't want to chance being crippled by it, but i don't think i ever get any of the omegas in my diet.

(eczema not psoriasis, and it's only when i'm super stressed. i had it all the time when i was a kid and got put on a macrobiotic diet for my first solid foods, though.)

It is foul

i got some but only tried it a couple of times

it tastes like the cooking fat you pour down the drain smells

and the texture

bleeeuurggh

edit- i wonder if thats what "shrimping" is like?
