People Who Died (16 Viewers)

seems this was the case, albeit probably unintentionally

new guidelines on reporting young suicides/deaths from the Samaritans recently.

Basically they asked the media really nicely to stop making such a big deal of it when a person was young because of the influence it had and potential for copycats.

What do the Samaritans define as a "big deal"?

Quick glance - they look sensible enough.

It's the "personal tragedy" / "died tragically" and "not looking for anyone else in connection with his death" that I do not approve of.

A guy in our school killed himself by jumping off the ILAC car park the week before the Leaving Cert.
We were told in school - by a religion teacher with spittle flying out of his mouth - to not dare spread any false rumours of suicide, under threat of, well, "having to deal with me".
Not "It's only exams, so no one else should contemplate this" or anything of the sort.
Essentially, if you even discussed it, this guy would fuck you up.

Boggles the goddamn mind.
