Especially if you buy it at the right time, which in the current cycle was about 2 years ago. So save now for the next crash @jonah - cash buyers got some major bargains.

Our house was the absolute nadir of the market. Since we bought it, the values of the houses for sale nearby have reached about 1.5 times what we paid.

I don't have many lofty ambitions. Just a house that's paid for and something to supplement the state pension.

I intend to fully use the fuck out of the free rail travel. I hope that doesn't go anywhere.

Never been invited to join my work places

Feel kind of left out as I think at least all but one other staff member is in out (8 people work where I work)

they're obliged to make you aware of it and give you an option to join, afaik
