Poor guy - I knew he was being treated for stomach cancer but I'd no idea it was so serious. RIP.

That's shit. I heard that he had cancer alright. Prognonsis for stomach cancer is not good.
He played on... so, I suppose, that was what he wanted to do.
I got "diagnosed" (incorrectly) with cancer about a year and a half ago. I instantly decided to jack in the job in New york, and get the fuck out of the US.

Thinking I had cancer is about the worst thing that happened to me in my life.
And he HAD cancer... and he just kept on being amazing at snooker. Not everyone gets a Lance Armstrong break.

Hats off to the man.

Thursday I was told about it, and that I would be wanting to make an appointment with the blood cancer specialist dude. I had almost no white blood cells left. I was testing well below the full blown AIDS range. They ran the tests twice, same result.
But, he said to come back in, since he wanted to re-do everything again, to make sure there was no mix ups. In the mean time the oncologist appointment was set up. I had to wait till Monday for the re-test, and then got the results on tuesday afternoon. I was told I was back up more or less to normal.

So, in total I was waiting 5 days. Like I said... I didnt have cancer (or AIDS) or anything it seemed. But just the thought scared the shite out of me. It made me a bit mad. I started a wierd fight with someone on the road for some reason.
When the phone call came in I can remember very clearly sitting on a fire escape, in NYU, with Nikolaus Rajewsky (this serious big shot biologist dude) having a chat about things .
Even though I am in the clear, cancer, like the idea, scares the shit out of me.

I forgot to cancel the appointment with the blood cancer specialist.
