LOVVERS
LOVVERS have already given us 3 7" of 80’s style SST/ SUB POP dirty dissonant roll on the floor frantic punk rock. They have been ‘Black Flagging’ it around the UK for years now (and once to Ireland), giving unforgettable and unpredictable live shows. Most recently they have toured with Times New Viking, Jay Reatard with whom they would seem to share a similar approach, but they also seemed to make it work with Los Campesinos!.
Anyways, expect an new 12"/EP in September on WICHITA Records, (home to big stars such as Les Savy Fav, Blood Brothers, Simian Mobile Disco etc…) and expect to hear a lot more about LOVVERS real soon….

Artrocker (Single Of The Week)
Like a creaky old 1960s horror film filtered through a lo-fi garage rock aesthetic, this is full of charming, cheap shocks. 'Laughing Man' is deranged, gobshite rock that spits all over the place, while 'Search For Gold' is a darker affair - a strutting top speed rock song that captures the feeling of Fear that was last seen permuting Sonic Youth's 'Death Valley 69'.
Having already supported Blood Red Shoes and Foals, it'd be fair to say we'll be seeing Lovvers again next year - and on this basis it's gonna be intriguing to see what their next move is.

A Nottingham band consisting of The Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg and Kamikazee members, Lovvers successfully straddle the curious middle ground between arthouse cred and noisesome hardcore. By paying homage to the snotty vocal stylings of Chris Thomson of The Monorchid and Circus Lupus, Shaun gets an automatic thumbs up from this judge, with the messy but pointed guitar work, frantic drums and snaky basslines of, well, The Monorchid and Circus Lupus. Urgent, exciting, intelligent. Lovv this band! (Sorry).
Vice
The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg should have been like the English version of the Blood Brothers but a million and one times better. shame they split. here is shaun who used to scream with the Murder Of playing puerile spazzed-out punk that hits all the right notes, like Antioch Arrow on bad ecstacy. 9/10

"Reference wise think Fugazi albeit comatose and chilled shadow boxing with elements of the Melvins and a less frenetic Jon Spencer Blues Band all loosely pitting their collective wits to recalibrate the skewed non pop mindset of early career Trumans Water."
