REVIEW OF CROWD CONTROL LP

this is a joke right?

Ya Trev, but sorry there was a review of Corwd Control - Terror Cycle EP in this month Maximum Rock n Roll, Am I missing how this could be a joke?
However Crowd Control's Modern Bullshit LP was the only Irish record to make a top ten list which I think is just crazy after there being some great releases last year!

FEAR OF TOMORROW - No Fucking Future, No Way 7'' EP (2010)
FEAR%2BOF%2BTOMORROW%2B-%2BNo%2BFucking%2BFuture%252C%2BNo%2BWay%2B7%2527%2527%2BEP.jpg

New great band from Vancouver and their first EP released recently this year for Charged / Distorted REC. 8 songs and 10-odd minutes of fast and raw crust punk influences based on the hardcore and early 90's, but also unavoidable bands like Discharge and similar legendary and influential bands disbeat HC.

SPECTRES/ARCTIC FLOWERS-split7"
arctic.jpg

Each band draws on early 80s post-punk influences but does it a slightly different way. Spectres' track, "Pattern Recogntion," incorporates synth into a driving punk gnash. Arctic Flowers follow up their excellent 7" with "Rats In The Walls," another forceful, hauntingly melodic song.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL / ICON OF EVIL split LP
183-242-medium.jpg
183-243-medium.jpg

TB&TB (ex Antichrist, Silence) consequently, third time in a row, leave all unnecessary saddening behind. They deliver 12 tracks of anger and rage which will literally smash your face. Truly hellish stuff topped by devastating production. IOE (ex-Evil, Infekcja) also leaves no prisoners. Absolutely brilliant and brutal metal-punk for all you Bolt Thrower freaks.

Meinhof "8 Drops Of Blood" - new 12"LP
182-241-large.jpg

After the successful 10 "now comes a full LP from this band from England. MEINHOF stand for raw, very vicious Hardcore-Crust, by the incredibly aggressive, raucous and mangy voice of the singer plus points collected both by the melodic guitar. The band is a little bit of the interface between Crustcore and anarcho-punk. The lyrics are extremely political and resistant what songs like "From protest to resistance", "ghetto punk", "Hanging on in anarchist circle around, and we would die for freedom" would imply. Artworl This is already like the 10 "semi-managed Sun But the sound is much clearer and more powerful. And the 10 songs are a fucking power! All in all a very consistent record, the claim of the band, the radicalism, music, lyrics and attitude linked to the authentic.

mrr_330_cvr-300x390.jpg

Hey punk rockers, the November issue of MRR is here! On the cover this month we have FOREIGN OBJECTS from Boston who take the inventiveness and power of the riot grrrl idea and make some of the raddest hardcore you will hear. We have interviews with local metal crust behemoth ACEPHALIX, the Swell Maps-esque garage punks PHEROMOANS the from the UK, and the the C86-styled, pop inflected punk of LA LA VASQUEZ. We talk to the FORGETTERS from NYC, a band that features former members of JAWBREAKER and plays packed basement punk shows — yes, the kids are psyched — and we’ve got Boston’s most recent pop punk export, the CREDENTIALS. We also interview BUKAKKE BOYS, representing Atlanta’s hardcore underbelly; NEGATIVE LIFESTYLE, representing small town Sweden, and HANK IV from San Francisco, who’re keeping Crime’s legacy alive. And last but not least we have TYRANNA, one of the early Canadian punk bands, playing a cool mix of classic US punk and UK art punk with amazing female vocals. All of that plus a scene report from Ireland, the last part of a look back at ’80s Finnish punk photography with Katriina Etholén, and the best reviews, news and columns in the world!!

Found a copy of Divisions Ruin 7" I thought I had sold out of it but nope. As far as I know no distros have these anymore could be wrong though.
194-255-large.jpg

Here's an EP that holds four tracks of loud and howling raw crusty-styled hardcore. The A side contains two tracks that are executed in a slower manner with pounding rhythms and roaring vocals, where the B side, although not being without doom-laden riffs, have two faster tunes with more of an aggressive approach. There can be possible neo-crust comparisons to the music, but the delivery are a lot rougher than that, and not as polished, not quite placing this EP within said category.
This is in fact hard to place within any category as the music refuses to be labelled. There are parts with haunting crust which explodes into grindcore in the next second, before they bring out the metal. They pour a little bit of everything into it and the result is quite a diverse brand of doomy crustcore

And from a trade that didnt work out I have now got copies of Contort Tape again!!
193-254-large.jpg

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland. This cute yellow tape providing 8 tracks of wall of noise and chainsaw buzzing guitar! The vocal always reminds me of Taff from DISORDER. Opening tracks with slow intro and there you go, listener will having a earache if they got a chance to see them live. If you into GAI, CONFUSE, SWANKYS, GLOOM and old DISORDER you probably love this tape. Recorded using 4-track machine thats the way raw noise punk should be done

This is the follow-up to the 2003 cover 7" on First Blood Family. This time around the band has set their aim for the 80's Nordic scene and have taken on one track each from Missbrukarna, Bannlyst, War of Destruction, Rattus and Purrkur Pillnikk and put them through the crust as fuck filter that is the Warcollapse sound.

KRIEGSHÖG - HARDCORE HELL E.P.
196-257-large.jpg

"I am almost left speechless on how fucking good this record is. The ultra-hardcore brutal legion needs to maim and murder to get this record ‘cuz it fucking kills an I heard it is already long gone. Ok, what does it sound like, you may ask? Driving, fist-pumping hardcore with loads of distortion, ferocious drumming, and vocals that drive right through my skull. Side one paints a picture for you by having some war-time sample – ya know, gunfire and commotion followed by a sic-year-old girl’s blood-curdling scream – then in comes the audio assault. Killer!"

It’s in! Maximum Rocknroll #336, the May 2011 issue, has hit the stands and it is not to be missed! We have interviews with powerful Japanese hardcore ragers KRIEGSHÖG, and Steve Ignorant explains his motivation for his controversial recent solo tour playing CRASS songs. TEARGAS from Australia give us some insight about their imagery and the drive to make their style of hardcore, TANTRUM delves into what it is to be a punk in Japan and the motives behind playing Italian style thrashcore, and we talk to London’s disjointed, aggro post-punkers HYGIENE. We have the SHOPPERS from NY discussing their politically tinged, melodic pop punk; punk author and publisher Chris Walter keeps it gritty; old schoolers ADRENALIN OD; and ’80s style hardcore band SPASTIC PANTHERS from Canada. In “Crass Commercialism” our writers discuss the seemingly paradoxical nature of Steve Ignorant’s tour and the message of Crass, and we have a great Hungarian scene report covering “Defekt Punks.” All of this plus a massive amount of record reviews, news, and columns!
