NORTHLESS Since I've been running this label there's been very few times in my life that I've been witness to such a crushing sludge metal band. Northless blew my mind the first time I listend them as a four-piece. With this Split the band's intensity is captured on record, at long last. Since adding two additional members to the lineup (the band started as guitar/drum duo) Northless has expanded on their original style of atmospheric sludgy metal and gone beyond the barrier that holds lesser bands back. This progression enabled Northless to break through into new territory and write truly exceptional songs, more focused, more dense. This Split might be one of the most misanthropic, angst-filled albums I've ever heard, but it never fails to instill a feeling of hope in the listener. A hope that a band can draw upon familiar influences and personal experiences, draw on them and combine them to create something that breaks the mold of slow & heavy music

LIGHTBEARER - SILVER TONGUE CD

Light Bearer are not stuck in any one strict heavy music genre, but open to everything. What i mean by that is there is no formulaic style to the songs on this album. But to try to give an idea of where they are coming from i'd draw comparisons to unconventional post metal/hardcore bands like Isis, Red Sparowes or Amenra. The two years of development of 'Silver Tongue' has brought interrelated and interwoven changes which seamlessly merge with it's narrative. Would it be ok to use a word like 'beautiful' with such aggressive heavy music? With a personality and style well and truly all their own. The cello goes very deep on 'Matriarch', a dark slow passage accompanied by very sorrowful singing. Which leads into a crow like vocal sound on the opening of 'Clarus', but switches to a church like hymn. These passages lead nicely into a more confrontational 'Aggressor & Usurper' which has a real decent ascent and descent throughout. Like an orchestral piece this song has changes which go from a macabre sounding piano and violin. Then to real all out frenzied coarse type hardcore. The final Track 'Silver Tongue' starts in a completely different manner. It could even be radio friendly in the very beginning. But like a symphony it has changes from a very layered slow pulsating heavy hardcore rhythm to an ambiane with orchestral like percussion. Light Bearer have now set a high standard other bands will have to struggle to match.

Morne / Warprayer split 12"

The band that stands before you known as Morne started with many trials and tribulations. It began back in 2005, and even though there were many interested individuals, only one lineup had the dedication and perseverance to make the band a reality. The band features Milosz (ex-FILTH OF MANKIND) on guitar, Jeff (ex-DISRUPT, GRIEF) also on guitar, Max on bass and Kevin on drums (both from various Boston bands). Morne draws it's influence from powerful, intense bands such as AMEBIX, NEUROSIS and SACRILEGE. The undertones of these bands can certainly be heard in Morne's sound, but they create an atmosphere all their own.
WARPRAYER features members of ripcord, dumstuck, gurkha... and its crust as fuck...

Crows -’Better off Dead’ LP coming out on Distro-y Rec.

Distro-y Records are very excited to announce a new release Crows debut LP in late 2013. Crows are a five piece D.I.Y hardcore-punk band from Dublin, Ireland, who play fast, down-tuned, hardcore-punk.
Having previously released ‘Serverance’ cassette both self-released and on Sour Milk Rec. followed by a 7″ split-record with Dublin sludge-hardcore band Drainland on Suburban Mayhem Records (which you can listen to below as to get a flavour to savour till the LP). Late 2013 shall see a debut LP released which will be a concept LP entitled ‘Better off Dead’ on Distro-y Rec and De Graanrepubliek(NL).
Crows are currently half way through writing their debut album “Better off Dead” and also an EP “ACABOD” due to be released later this year. Better Off Dead/ACABOD, are concept records based on the types of people who have played a role (big and small) in the degradation and collapse of Irish societal values and cultural identity, and as a result are ‘Better off Dead’. Bankers, socialites, overpaid broadcasters, corrupt politicians, property developers and so on.


In other news will be doing distro Table at Inner Terrestrials on Friday in Dublin.

Kronofogden - Käftarna Maler 7"

Let me introduce you to your new favorite band – wheter you knew of their existence or not.
Kronofogden hail from the angry parts of Hudiksvall in the north of Sweden and have made a racket since 2009. In 2011 they released their 15-track CD/tape “Rid i natt” and in 2012 their split LP with Inkvisitionen was released. We now have 2013 and and it’s time for these youngsters to get their tunes carved into a 7″ vinyl.
Four tracks of high speed hardcore punk. Three short and pissed off ragers, that range from just under one minute to almost two minutes, and one longer, but equally raging, tune. This is one enforcement officer you want to have knocking on your door.

Nuclear Reich is Kromosoms latest offering accompanying their US Tour, Rampaging hardcore noize from these Australian fanatics. This band takes the Disorder/Confuse style of hardcore and cranks up the distortion in the style made famous by bands like Gloom and Disclose. Has the same hard charging power and wall of raw noise of bands like D Clone, Perdition and Nerveskade but with a solid and powerful hardcore punk backbone that recalls the masters of Scandinavian hardcore from years past. Some bands attempting this style start to fall apart and just sound like a barrage of senseless noise. Kromosom holds it down with solid and punishing songs directing, yes, channeling the energy of the noise and distortion in crushing riffs instead of pure white noise.

Emotive crustcore. A mixture of Skitsystem, meets a dash of black metal and dare I say it, the epicness of Tragedy. This band from Sweden sure made me pay attention. It has the aggression and power mixed with musical prowess that brings the music above the common. A controlled wall of blasting sound that brings forth a good slap in the face. It also takes you along dragging you on the ground for additional pain. The sound is so big that you feel enveloped in the energy.

New songs from the Lidköping crust/hardcore unit known as M:40. The band started back in 2002 over a totally improvised recording. Their second fullength, Historiens svarta vingslag, was released as CD in 2007 on Halvfabrikat Records. Since then the world has not quite been the same.

A long time, bands such as Disfear, Tragedy and Totalt jävla mörker led the way of crust/punk entirely. As the summer of 2012 approaches, the tables will turn. M:40 are back with their third fullength, titled "Diagnos".

Diagnos does not only gives us the brutal side of Disfear, the raw side of Tragedy, or even the fierce side of Totalt jävla mörker. Diagnos also proves that crustpunk can infact be diverse; in contrary to the before mentioned.
