Dropping Bombs 12″ Out on Distro-y Rec. late Autumn

a2283970474_2.jpg

A most eagerly awaited debut of what can be only described as a pillar of the Dublin punk/hardcore scene and hands down one of the tightest sounding live bands Ireland has produced, Dropping Bombs will make their way on to a ‘self titled’ vinyl 12″ release out on Distro-y Records late this Autumn.
The long running Dropping Bombs have developed their sound over the years chopping and changing to create a hard hitting style of their own breed of hardcore which blends the raw power and ferocity of Tragedy/From Ashes Rise layered with the catchy riffs of Propaghandi, the whole time narrated by lyrics that critique and display the sickness of society in Ireland as well as the mockery of a ‘civilised’ world in which we all live in. Tracks mastered by Enormous Door. Track up for streaming/download now on Distro-y Bandcamp check it out:

Right so have been quiet enough due to delays with in release but everything should all happen very quickly and I know some of you have been asking about releases, four in all coming out on Distro-y and here is the breakdown on all:

The long delayed Link/Absolutist split 12" which has spawned a Link - Euro Tour CD release also available on Distro-y will unfortunately not be out in time for the Absolutist Irish Tour at the end of July due to it being finished production while the lads are on tour here, ya lots of fuck ups but still great sounding tracks on the 12" so much so I think I will only have a few left once they arrive due to high demand and a small number of copies. you can listen to the tracks on bandcamp I expect copies probably mid-August judging on past performance of label in charge of pressing:
http://distro-yrecords.bandcamp.com
a1506205691_2.jpg

and then comes a monster of a release and the only one of the four that Eric Davys has not done the artwork for - Passiv Dödshjälp - Kollektiva Mönster 12"
This is Swedish rock'n'roll hardcore similar to the likes of Inepsy/Skitkids but with a more aggresive powerful sound and raw energy that makes you know this is from Sweden. This is due to be finished production in 2-3 weeks you can listen to a few tracks on bandcamp:
http://distro-yrecords.bandcamp.com

Then after that comes DROPPING BOMBS 12", CROWS - 'BETTER OFF DEAD' 12" due to be recorded in September, then the one alot have been waiting for the follow up LP to Bacchus - S/T 12" and I have a few more releases lined up along the way as well more info soon

Latest record from this Mexican powerhouse, and it's easily their best record since their excellent demo. POISON IDEA - FEEL THE DARKNESS LP
poison-idea-feel-the-darkness-lp.jpg

Portland, Oregon's Poison Idea were never a subtile act. In fact, they resided at the furthest end of the opposite spectrum, fusing the pummeling rhythm section of heavy metal, with the crunching three-chord speed and fury of American hardcore, topped off with Jerry A.'s snarling, larger than life baritone, spitting out declamation after declamation against the world. That would be larger than life in more ways than just his Stentorian roar: Jerry, like guitarist Pig Champion, and for that matter, drummer Thee Slayer Hippy, are veritable giants, in height and girth. Reissued in 2004 by Farewell Records, Feel the Darkness is, simply stated, Poison Idea's most blistering moment in the sun, a steamrolling mass of furious speed and aggression, tempered with excellent drum and guitar work.

VICTIMS - A DISSIDENT LP
victims-a-dissident-lp.jpg

"A Dissident" is the latest album from Victims, recorded by Linus Wiklund with assistance from Nicko from Entombed. When the first chords of opener "Theft" interrupt the album's haunting intro, it's apparent that the years under their belt have only allowed Victims to become even more charged. For nearly a half hour "A Dissident" rages full bore from one punk/hardcore anthem to the next. Songs like "In Control", "We Are Not The Future", and "Nowhere In Time" carry the kind of heavy hooks that most bands can only dream of creating in their tenure. While "Broken Bones" and "Victims In Blood Pt. 6" are flawless examples of the classic hardcore/metal crossover power that they are known for. Victims' unrelenting ferocity, unforgettable choruses, and swedish quest for perfection has pushed the blueprint of their influences (Motorhead, Discharge, etc.) to a new contemporary level. And with the release of "A Dissident", Victims have cemented their place among the leaders, not followers, in today's true underground punk/hardcore scene.

I also have some new upcoming releases to announce later today aswell!!!

Ok so I didnt get a chance to post that news I wanted to post yesterday but will post it now.

First off I am all sold out of Absolutist / Link split 12" this was a hugely popular release, and hopefully will release something by Link later this year (being 2014 as this is the last day of 2013) and will hopefully do something with Absolutist aswell.
As for 2014 releases so far planned will be Dropping Bombs which will be sorted soon I promise, CROWS - Better Off Dead LP which will be looked at very shortly and hopefully release quickly after the Dropping Bombs 12" but I have two other release to announce some may have heard it elsewhere but I will be doing a 12" of Crutches from Sweden (d-beat hardcore in the vein of what Sweden does best) it shall be called "Luard" and will be Crutches who are currently touring South East Asia, debut 12" for those of you who do not know Crutches you may remember Project Hopeless who toured Ireland about 4 years ago (I can't believe it was that long ago or was it 5??) anyway here is a track off it:

I said two releases the other I only play a small part in it just due to being offered a place on the release and I really couldn't say no to this one, as it was two of my favourite Anarcho punk bands one from the 80's and one a bit more recent Burnt Cross / Anthrax split 7'', Burnt Cross have been one of the best and most popular anarcho punk bands of recent times earning them a place up there on the legendary status with the likes of Conflict, Crass, The System and Anthrax and I am very proud to be releasing another Burnt Cross release having done a repress of the Carcass of Humanity 12'' and having done the Burnt Cross/Cress split 7" a few years ago. Anthrax reformed a few years ago releasing a discography and CD ep and since then have released a new 12" as well. now they team up one of the best anarcho punk bands around to release what undoubtly will be one of the eagerly awaited Anarcho punk releases in years. Will only have limited copies of this.

Following all this will be the Bacchus 12" and a few other releases looking towards the end of the year.

There will also be a few releases from Jobsworth Records this year as well starting off with Section 4 - In No Fit State CD which you can check out here:

which I must say will more than likely be the Irish Release of the Year.
Will also be doing the debut 7" of Belfasts Empty Lungs hopefully in spring. The Jobseekers 7" is also to come out this year but has hit a little snag for the moment but give it time and we will get it out. There is a few other releases that are also being looked at and hopefully will have more news soon....

Just a few little thing I want to say as well currently I don't have a fully functioning computer due to Kids + Computer = SMASHED SCREEN so I am slow to update the webshop I have a lot of stuff to still upload into webshop some distro items have been sold out at gigs and I haven't updated the webshop so I am sorry if something people order are out of stock which has happened once or twice this week. As have been very busy.
I have introduced ways where you don't have to pay for shipping/postage on webshop as to save you some money as Vinyl prices seem to be costantly rising this is not due to me I first started off and tried to sell all 12"s at 8 euro and 7"s at 3 euro I have recently been uploading 12" most at 10 euro and some at the 11 and 12 euro mark due to various wholesale/postage and custom charges. and recently put up a 7" at 4.50 which was very high but its just the way things are and to be honest will be probably worse next year. I am currently looking at ways of reducing the cost of releases so when I trade for other peoples releases I can stock everything at a decent price but not as many labels trade anymore which sucks. Things have changed alot in the 6 or so years I have been doing distro and will change alot in the next couple years as well just looking at the way things are going. Any questions or comments please message or e-mail me.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUPPORT THIS YEAR WAS A GREAT YEAR FOR IRISH RELEASE AND BANDS AND 2014 WILL TWICE AS GOOD IF I CAN HELP IT WITH SOMETHING LIKE 10 OR SO IRISH RELEASES COMING FROM BOTH JOBSWORTH AND DISTRO-Y, THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT WEBSHOP:

Have had alot of stuff coming in and out of recent more stuff in:

Jungbluth - Part Ache LP
jungbluth-part-ache-lp.jpg

Jungbluth features ex-members of German hardcore/crust band Alpinist. Jungbluth derive their name from Karl Jungbluth, a German communist/antifascist resistance fighter during World War II. Jungbluth play an impressive style of politically charged metallic hardcore/punk that is anti-fascist, anti-racist, anti-homophobic, anti-sexism, and any other type of discrimination present in today's modern world. Part Ache is the band's debut nine song LP, which is slated for physical release in August. On Part Ache, Jungbluth offer listeners nine songs of dark, brutal, and punishing songs of politically charged hardcore complete with heavy as fuck guitars, rapid fire drumming, and venomus/spite-filled vocals that's sure to please fans of modern hardcore, punk, and crust bands. Overall, Part Ache is an amazing album and Jungbluth is an absolute must listen for fans of Glasses, Reivers, and Trainwreck. Highly recommended!

MOURNING CLOAK - no visible light LP
mourning-cloak-no-visible-light-lp.jpg

Greensboro, NC’s Mourning Cloak, made up of members of Torch Runner, Graf Orlock & Braveyoung (Giant). No Visible Light clocks in at just over 33 minutes of crushing riffs, devastating beats and thunderous vocals.

“No Visible Light.” The title is apt, because this is an ominous cloud blocking the sun, raining down charcoal dust, black mud, and infant ash on us all.
Their Facebook page refers to their music as “funeral doom/punk,” but I only hear the former in this track. But this doesn’t sulk through the cemetery, it grooves hard enough to split the catacombs in half, releasing the crypt bats into the air. After the quickly dissipating opening ambience the guitars crawl from open graves and shake the rust off their bones with godless black-and-blues riffs. There is suck a thick layer of slime and sludge on this song that it reminds me of that barrier of grime and giant centipedes Indiana Jones’ love interest sticks her hand through in Temple of Doom. If you don’t get that reference, here it is in non-geek language: This song is nasty and unpleasant in the most sadistically delightful ways possible. The vocalist sounds like he’s plummeting into a bottomless pit, shaking hands with the devil to make a pact to finally break his fall. This is some seriously bleak stuff that fans of Bongzilla and Cough should feverishly inhale. ( mister growl )

VYST - try again. fail again. keep on trying. keep on living. gain while giving. LP
vyst-try-again-fail-again-keep-on-trying-keep-on-living-gain-while-giving-lp.jpg

Here’s a surprisingly awesome shard of hardcore VYST don’t rely on dissonance. Merely powerful riffs that move from high speed punk to a moment or two in sludgecore territory (almost) to a short melodic or melancholic (sometimes clean) section — briefly there will be in a few songs a rough tremolo passage just touching on something blackened.
Not injected with the blazing sludge found in Perth Express and yet not being as strictly hardcore as Glasses, VYST have found a comfortable middle ground with a very minor blackened-crusty influence without completely falling into the ever-popular splinter genre of dark hardcore; and it works very well. Just solid, head-bang-inducing hardcore." ( cvltnation )

WHITEHORSE / NEGATIVE STANDARDS SPLIT 12"
whitehorse-negative-standards-split-12.jpg

two of the heaviest bands around team up for one split record, australia's whitehorse once more deliver ultrabrutal sludge/doom with one of the sickest vocalists around, think a sludgier corrupted ; negative standards from the states are all over the place once more, mixing aggressive hardcore / power violence with mean sludge and even some black metal, and some samples added, sick

>Millions of Dead Cops / The Restarts split 12"
millions-of-dead-cops-the-restarts-split-12.jpg

t's hard to believe that MDC have been doing their thing for over thirty years when you hear the youthful urgency and energy contained on their side of the wax. They've certainly not taken their foot off of the accelerator as the time has passed by. As well as the usual political targets left bullet-ridden by Dave Dictor's verbal crossfire, MDC also allow themselves to get more personal at times, sharing salutory tales from the scars they've picked up along the way. You'd be wise to listen to such wisdom. The intricacy in the music, especially when played so fast, shows a natural affinity between the band and their instruments that can only be acquired through having spent so long in each others company. The only slight criticism I have is that the sound is a little flat for my tastes, and some bits could do with stronger back-up (rhythm guitar?) when the fret-shredding begins in earnest. But the overall power of the whole thing is undeniable, especially when Dave's vox kick in. I'd even go as far as saying that this is the strongest release they've done since that classic first album and EP

While The Restarts don't have the length of service of their American friends, they're certainly a familiar part of the punk rock furniture. Listening to this cuddly threesome bark out their heartfelt and down-to-earth thoughts and feelings about the world is both uplifting and comforting, like a big bowl of stew and dumplings on a cold winter's night. Sure, it might be grim outside but, with the right fuel inside you, you can face it head on and with a smile. Many bands try and pull off the straight-up street sound and no-nonsense attitude combo with varying degrees of success (and, more often, failure *cough* Casualties *cough*), but The Restarts manage it effortlessly because that's exactly what they are - straight-up no-nonsense punks. Whether it's at the 'punk Glastonbury' affairs that help pay the bills, or in a squatted basement raising cash for any number of causes that need it, they give it their all. They're on the road as often as they're not, so be sure to go and say hello if they pass anywhere nearby. Until then, grab this gem and turn your own humble abode into the next best thing." (OPND)

The Restarts-A Sickness of the Mind CD
the-restarts-a-sickness-of-the-mind-cd.jpg

Still going strong, these English punks keep the banner flying. Abrasive yet catchy UK punk with raw vocals and plenty of chorus sing a longs. The razor blade throated lead vocalist give this plenty of raw edge while through most of it the music has a much more uplifting energy to it. They throw in some straight forward rockin' parts and a few old-styled guitar leads as well. But this is a straight forward punk rock from this spikey punk trio. Oddly enough, it seems rare to come across the bands that play straight forward old-style punk rock and so this is a refreshing cause they've been at it for like a decade. Cheers guys. Good catchy shit.

JUNGBLUTH can definitely be considered as one of the most exciting and vibrant bands coming from Germany these days and should be a well-known name for all of you who are into dark HC/Punk. Hailing from Münster, Germany, this three-piece is featuring former members of ALPINIST. They sold out of the first and second pressing on their S/T demo CS and recently released a full length LP through VENDETTA. Emotional intensity meeting the toughness of old school hardcore, and the wafty soundscapes of post-rock, it seems as though JUNGBLUTH is carving out their own niche in a scene that has too many genres to even list.

CALLOW is a relatively new melodic hardcore punk band originally from Boston, MA who now reside in Philadelphia, PA. The band shares members with Boston hardcore act LOVECHILD (and former members of CERCE) and released their debut seven song EP “Disappear Here” on a cassette with the help of IT’S A TRAP! RECORDS. CALLOW play a blend of intense emotional hardcore with powerful delivery, mixing subtle elements of darker and heavier bands like CURSED and CONVERGE.

FINISTERRE / GERANIÜM - split EP
finisterre-geraniüm-split-ep.jpg

RESTOCK: Both bands have been around for some time now and maintain a long-lasting friendship, that is finally pressed on this little piece of vinyl !
FINISTERRE from Cologne / Germany deliver two excellent songs, probably their most matured and outstanding output ever.
Their previous one-sided 12" "Hexis" already guided the direction and Finisterre take up this path and follow it further, playing an intense and dark style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, and sludge, within their distinct own sound. Hardcore with a crust edge - dark & sometimes melodic, with great female vocals and deep political lyrics!
On the other side - GERANIÜM from Strassbourg / France with one long songs full of anger and despair. Incredibly brutal! They have been playing a lot since their last years LP and should be well known to everyone into HC / Neo-Crust à la Ekkaia and Alpinist. Highly recommended!
