With less than a month to go, Heineken Green Synergy, the best festival this winter, keeps getting bigger.


Warp Records signing and Toronto based, BORN RUFFIANS (Whelans – Fri. Nov. 14th) make their Irish debut at Heineken Green Synergy. Having released their debut 'Red, Yellow and Blue', if you had to play the sound-alike game, you might suggest Jonathan Richman fronting the Talking Heads, or the Violent Femmes' Gordon Gano in the kitchen with Animal Collective—and you'd be close; but still missing their essence. Born Ruffians can also boast support tours with Hot Chip, Caribou and Peter, Bjorn and John.

While Jurassic 5 have called it a day, AKIL THE MC (ATM) – (Whelans Upstairs – Wed. Nov. 13th) proves that the hip hop spirit don't stop. Bringing his rhymes from South Central LA, Akil has collaborated with 'The Pharcyde', 'DJ Format' and even had a recent cameo in the film 'Alpha Dog'. Akil will be playing Jurassic 5 material as well as solo material on the night.

ADRIAN CROWLEY (Whelans – Sat. Nov. 15th) has won heaps of praise for 'Long Distance Swimmer' his most recent album. Commended for his doeful voice, assured compositions and beguiling performances, Crowley is currently working on his next LP.

Q (COLM QUEARNEY) previews material from his forthcoming LP (Whelans Upstairs – Sat. Nov. 15th). It's 'Spector pop, folksynth, rock' says Q.

LE GALAXIE join The Presets (Village – Sun. Nov. 16th) with their instrumental and synth jamboree.

THE URGES hook up with Jay Reatard (Whelans Upstiars – Sun. Nov. 16th) and dust down their psych-punk sensibilities.
