Bob Dylan in Ipod commercial (1 Viewer)

Dylan was never a crayzie leftie. Why the surprise? I don't like it though, but it's nothing new. Sure hasn't he played private gigs for Microsoft and stuff?

I'd much prefer to buy a Bob Dylan iPod than a U2 one.

The problem is sponsorship and the corporate ownership of things we hold dear.

The problem is the appropriation of someone or something unique and individual that people have a strong loyalty to (merited or not) in order to transfer that loyalty to something that is not unique, not really that useful, and designed only to further brainwash people into supposed "brand loyalty".

I thought myself that Dylan was above all that but as Potlatch points out he's done it before. This doesn't make me any less disappointed though.

What's next? Leonard Cohen in an ad for Pfizer?

but the thing is, it's the first thing thats ever made me want to listen to a bob dylan record

always hated him, but that tune sounds rocking.

maybe i just need the corporations to tell me whats cool

Di he not do a deal in Canada where you could only but his new album in starbucks? This was few year back.
happened just last year. HMV pulled all his stock in retaliation. This impressed Bob (seriously) to the point where he invited the Pres of HMV Canada to listen to his new album in the studio, from what i understand.
sold a song years ago to Bank of Montreal as well. it's all about the almighty dollar, cuz i'm betting Bob doesn't bank with them.
