Ballroom of Romance presents:
Ballroom #11

The Lower Deck, Friday Feb 14th, Doors 9pm (come early!)

Valentine's Day extravaganza:
Valentine's Day is on the 14th February for those of you not into love.

The Dudley Corporation http://www.thedudleycorporation.com

"Formed sometime in the distant present, The Corpo are pioneers in the quixotic and intoxicating field of MamrockTM". Lovely songs about love, loss, Joss and toss, the Dudley Corporation are one of Ireland's leading bands. Back from a tour of America and Iceland last year, the Dudleys will be bringing their wry observations on romance to this Valentine's Day
special.

As Japanese mag, Buy or Die said: "one listening it just does you can
understand the guitar Band which had the original tea which it will be
secure". Or something along those lines.

The Tycho Brahe http://www.thetychobrahe.com

Their debut album This Is… is unquestionably one of the best albums of 2002. Featuring members from the Plague Monkeys and the Jimmy Cake, the Tycho Brahe have a gorgeous and intimate style unique to themselves. We're delighted to have these guys around for our Valentine's Day – they make music you'd want to propose to!

Derrick Devine http://www.derrickdevine.com

With a debut e.p. entitled 'Charge' out on the 25th of february, Derrick Devine plays his first gig with a full band at the Ballroom of Romance. Derrick name-checks the likes of Elliott smith, the Frames and dEUS as influences so expect a number of quiet, acoustic-based gems with moments

GROW MORE WEED ...P.A.I.N. featuring Howard Marks

Howard Marks and the Propaganga and Information
Network (P.A.I.N.) have recorded a song through
Birmingham based Iron Man Records called "Let me grow
more weed."

The record aims to introduce the legalisation of
Cannabis into a more common arena for discussion and
is targetting the unconverted, the people who would
not normally take an interest in the cause.

Howard and the band are throwing down the gauntlet to
Tony Blair and his Government. They believe Cannabis
should be legalised and will not stand aside ever.
Howard Marks' book "Mr. Nice" is a best seller, his
articles in magazines such as "Loaded" are becoming
more regular and more notorious. He stands at the
front line of the cause to legalise drugs and people
are listening.

P.A.I.N. on a more underground level, are also on the
front-line of many different causes and social
comment, one of them being the legalisation of
Cannabis. They have also supported numerous
underground struggles and pressure groups, working
extensively with groups like Reclaim the Streets,
Anti-globalisation groups, Hunt Saboteurs,
Anti-fascists, Squatters,Mad Pride,MacLibel, and many
more....

David Broy mixed it.... young French lad operating out of his gaff in Monkstown. Apparently the equipment is pretty basic, but he does wonders with what he has. He also does the sound for the Ruby Sessions.

Derrick's a nice fella. I'm going to enjoy this night immensily. Me old mate Phil is playing keyboards, and "Blind" Al will be playing guitar - a fabulous guitarist by all accounts. He played with the Tom Waits band in San Francisco and is a very accomplished blue-grass songwriter in his own right.

And the Tycho Brahe are playing. And the Dudleys. Putting on gigs is great! Everyone should do it :)
