, the only thing that would have made it better was if there were loads of punx there; you can't have everything.

I would never dream of going to a Non Punk gig while a Punk festival was on, especially a venue so large.
Do people forget why Punk started....stadium rock uuurrrggghhhh
Then again what the fck is Punk these days.....it's become so diluted and bandied around.

I will probably never have the chance to see them again and they're one of my favourites, if not not my favourite band. I class being a punk through the type of lifestyle you lead, having integrity etc blah di blah. There are people who I would class as punx who probably don't even like punk music.. anyway Let There Be Rock is punk as fuck.. you should give it a WHirl.

Well, even if Punk started out as a reaction against stadium rock, we all know what kind of large open air venues the Sex Pistols have come to play over the last decade or more.

But if you're in the mood for some DIY, "intimate" stadium rock, then go to this. it'll be way better than the Pistols playing the Electric Picnic.

AC/DC ticket price: €67.50 (from what I could find)
Drumcanoe ticket price (on gate): €70.00

AC/DC 1 Drumcanoe 0
Bands per Euro?
Attendance @ AC/DC?
Normal Bouncers @AC/DC
Bringing your own booze?
Not sure what the set up is but to slag off Drumanacoo because it was €60 is wayyyyyyyyyyy OTT.
I never understood why people pay on gates when they can get it in numerous shops/outlets/mates.
I don't actually get why some people are slagging of Druma and it's not DIY.....I really don't.

1) Pistols never ever pretended to be anything but moneygrabbers, even in 1977!

2) I like your style.

I just went all nerdy and counted the bands on the Punx Picnic flyer, 32 bands on the Saturday so let's say that was €30 and that included free camping, that works out at less than a Euro a band!
Then again most of 'em haven't been on Top of The Pops or MTV like AC/DC.

Pretty simple. People from Ireland pay €60-70 to go watch their mates' bands play. Majority of Irish bands get paid fuck all. Bands bring the crowds and then get paid fuck all whilst some English band gets €1500+. Some Irish bands get paid a lot more than others for travelling basically the same distance.
The whole thing simply perpetuates the sort of inequality that is extremely prevalent in the music industry, thus can hardly be classed as DIY.

Maybe Mary thought she needed to pay the big bands to stop people attending that other big band in Punchestown. :D
As the tags said most of the local bands were the same as last year so no one is forcing them to come back, Mary has already told me how the thing couldn't work but for the local bands who play for small €
What would you suggest would be a better way?
Your point is taken with your reply though.

My AC/DC ticket cost £51 + £4.95 postage and packaging. I got a free lift to London, 2 free bus rides (plus one driver went 7 mins ahead of schedule to get me there faster). Ooooh Yeaaaaahhh :)

There's room for everybody... if you went to Ac/Dc and enjoyed yourself fairplay.

If you came to Drumacanoo and enjoyed yourself thank you.

Cormac if you've a problem with me then we'll meet up and have a chat xxx

I don't (given we've not even met as far as I know), other than what I've already outlined in other places. Not a personal problem, just a difference in ideas as to how certain things should be done.
