Yeah always. As it happens, the teachers were on the news last night saying that nowadays they don't have confidence in their own abilities in the language.

When I got half decent at Irish I was able to pick up a few words that the teachers would say to each other. You know what they were talking about??? Abso-fucking-lutey nothing. The weather and shit. Very disappointing. Bhí a lán diomá orm mar sin.

I thought I knew Irish, I can have a conversation and I've a lot of relations who are Gaelteoirs. But I got an email back in Irish the other day and there's no way I'd be confident enough to reply. The guy just did it on purpose to annoy me, he didnt know I was Irish or that I knew the language.

It was about funding applications. I got the idea of it that said they were closed at present but he'd get back to me in the future. It's in my work email. I thought it was a bit ironic it was for community groups wanting to promote the learning of Irish in the voluntary sector so they make it as diffucult as possible for anyone to do even find out about how to go about doing that.
