I'm a fretless bass player looking to hear from other musicians interested in giving the jazz-fusion thing a blast in front of a live audience. When I say jazz-fusion I mean enthusiasm and passion over formally-trained ability.

Anyone who appreciates the variety of sounds and sheer energy that Weather Report achieved without a vocalist and who wants to try something other than mom-rock let me know.

Weather Report covers would be the starting point but there is of course room for original compositions.

the following are needed:
percussionist
saxophonist
drumer
synth/piano/moog/hammond etc.
open to any other suggested instruments, except the triangle.

the following are not needed:
jazz snobs !baggyyyy

Yes it's serious, although making it a reality depends on what kind of response I get from other musicians. Definitely open to Herbie stuff.

I can't help you at all with the band...
but any recommendations on fusion other than Miles Davis (Bitches Brew/On the Corner etc.), Chick Corea, Weather Report and Herbie Hancock?
Some of it can be very ropey... but I got Rockit a while back and, on reflection, it's not a bad tune. It'd be great to see it live.
