The 1st annual IMN Underground Music Awards will be taking place later this year in Dublin. We are now compiling a list of nominees for this event with voting to take place shortly after the shortlist for each category has been announced.

This event will have in attendance members of the national and local newspapers, will have footage screened on television and will be broadcast live on radio.

I think it's kinda nice. It's not as if any of us are ever likely to get any other sort of recognition

I always thought one of the points of the 'underground' scene was that bands would help each other out instead of competing against each other. Awards like that just turn it into some sort of competition in my eyes, as if the 'winners' get to say "We're better than all you!". Load of bollocks I reckon, just another desperate grasp for recognition.
Unless it's just a big piss-take, in which case fair enough.

Also, I vote for George McFly's mate to take all the awards.
