Worked on a telly programme last year and the letters we used to get were absolutely hilarious. My favourite was one of those 6-page opuses in mad, handwritten scrawl that essentially said

Can Joe be on your programme?
Don't listen to anything people say, some people will tell you that Joe is crazy but that's nothing I knew a man fifty years ago now that had an iron hand and he used to talk to it.
Love Joe, Bye.

I was all for bringing him on, but the producers said no. Losers. Anyway, I think he ended up having a very successful career in radio. I think his name is Cormac Battle now...
