THE TELECOPES
Legendary cult icons the Telescopes are the first release on Trensmat Records, an new independent Irish label specialising in transmitting drone, noise and oscillations on vinyl.
The 'Night Terrors' EP is a very limited edition 7" of free drone audio druidry recalling Suicide, AMM and Metal Machine Music-era Lou Reed. Limited copies including catacombs sleeve, insert and CDr copy for non-vinyl enthusiasts are available to pre-order on http://www.trensmat.com before the official release on 17th July.
To mark the release The Telescopes will be playing their first ever Irish dates supported by Magnetize :
Sunday August 13th - Lazybird, The International, Dublin.
Friday August 18th - The Tikki lounge, Cork.
Saturday August 19th - The Boat club, Limerick.
The Telescopes have been pushing audio frontiers since 1988 releasing now regarded classics on Creation, Cheree and What Goes On. In 2002 after an eight year void they returned with the Third Wave LP on NYC label Double Agent. Their new sound is characterised by improvised drone/noise pieces, which have been released by Hungry Audio, Fourier Transform, Double Agent and reissues on Revola, Spaceage, Midsummer Madness and The Committee To Keep Music Evil prompting the NME to declare 'the genius of The Telescopes'.
