THE SINGLES
The Singles are a four-piece guitar pop/rock phenomenon. All in their early twenties, and hailing from the hip garage land of Detroit.
Signed to Rainbow Quartz, The Singles are comprised of Vincent Frederick (lead vocals, guitar), Will Yates (lead guitar, backing vocals), Dave Lawson (bass, backing vocals) and Dave Knepp on drums. Together they are incredibly original tunesmiths. Throw in some vintage Flaming Lips, early Buzzcocks, and add some classic Beatles Mersey beat, and you may have the musical cocktail that makes up The Singles sound.
The Singles debut, Better Than Before was recorded at Ghetto Recorders with Jim Diamond (White Stripes, The Sights) twiddling knobs. The band purposely kept overdubs to a minimum and the recording yields a magnificent live feeling.

Quotes
“Crunchy and Jangly, and golden harmonies with melodies deluxe. The band that The Beatles would be today”. Rolling Stone
“Beatles-esque power pop from Detroits next big thing”. USA Today

THE GRIP WEEDS
The Grip Weeds, consisting of brothers Kurt and Rick Reil along with Kristin Pinell, hail from New Jersey.
Taking their name from John Lennon’s character in the 1966 Dick Lester movie How I Won the War, The Grip Weeds are steeped in both The Beatles and The Byrds. As well as alternating between tough, sexy guitar lines and slow-mo tidal waves of 12-string jangle-and-chime, they recreate vocal harmonies from both bands. It’s all done with warmth and freshness.
The sumptuous guitar sounds, crafted by Rick and Kristin, are the grip Weeds’ glory. Pinell’s guitar solos are both histrionic and utterly inspired.

Quotes
“ A gorgeous alchemy of 60's and 70's brought into the 21st century “. NY Times
“With no stone left unturned The Grip Weed explore every aspect of psychedelia, acid rock, Mersey beat imaginable to create one of the decades masterpieces”. Village Voice

The Singles along with The Grip Weeds play The Hub, Eustace St, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, on Sunday October 19th. Tickets €10 + Booking fee from City Discs.
