New film by the guy who made REM's Losing My Religion video and that nutso Jennifer Lopez movie The Cell.
Saw it today in the IFI.
Manages to be weird and pompous but still completely fascinating and breathtaking.
It's like the film The Fountain should've been.

I just read a quote from David Fincher saying it's like “what would’ve happened if Andrei Tarkovsky had made The Wizard of Oz”, which would seem like as good a way as any to describe it.

Watched this last night and was blown away. So many incredible images in one movie, and a great story too. Cannot believe this isn't more well known.

Saw it about a year ago, the eye candy was very impressive but I thought the story was a bit trite.. The 'real world' framing story about the injured guy and the little girl in the convalescence home was much more interesting than the fantasy world in the main narrative. The guy who played the paralysed lad reminded me a lot of Bill Callahan (Smog), incidentally..
