It is not really an uncommon thing. Young engineers get studio experienc as well as a few credits for their CV. This really would actually be a great opertunity for someone attending or just finishing school.

It's true, any studio ussually has a tape op or runner that would be unpaid... it's really not that weird. Sun and Apollo would too... last time I was there the poor bloke was so fuckered from his day job helping make a living that he bascially slep thru the entire session...

Rough life, but it's the way of the business sadly...
