MY DISCO!

MY DISCO formed in Melbourne, Australia in the summer of 2003, between long term collaborators Rohan Rebeiro, Liam Andrews and Ben Andrews.

Since their first public performances, the band have performed in seven countries, including regions of South- east Asia and extensive touring throughout North America. During this time countless releases and re-issues on often unconventional formats have had limited release.

Renowned for their angular, agitated guitar sounds and an intricate time feel, MY DISCO have garnered much regard from their visceral live shows, undergoing extensive international touring, acclaimed supports with the likes of Deerhoof, The Gossip, Mogwai, Weird War, and world-class festivals (Meredith Music Festival.)

The 2006 release of their debut album "Cancer" features a minimalist approach to their song writing, deconstructing ideas within their arrangements. With a conscious focus on stark instrumentation, a concept of space and distinct structure is predominant on this recording. Somewhat of a departure from their previous output, "Cancer" concentrates less on non-linear time disposition and more towards streamlined ideas that depend upon an emphatic notion of rhythm and atonalality. Cancer" is out September 18 through Stomp / Numerical Thief.

2006 sees the band return to North America in November, as well as their first visit to the United Kingdom and Ireland supporting Fat Cat recording artist Charlottefield. Upon their return, MY DISCO will be performing at the 16th Annual Meredith Music Festival, in Victoria.

THREAD PULLS

Thread Pulls are a band in Dublin city, Ireland. They are Gavin Duffy, Ed Kelly and Peter Maybury.

They made a mini-album called "Summer songs" in late 2004 which was reviewed in The Wire and lead to them being invited by Vincent Gallo to play All tomorrow’s parties in 2005. Since then they've either been recording or playing live very rarely.
Thread pulls music starts in the studio. As they record more frequently than they appear live, they often have to learn afterwards how to play things from the tapes. Starting from 1 or 2 pieces they have previously worked on, they prepare a new set for each series of live shows.

Near the Ox mountains they recorded an album of material in mid 2005, but later reduced this to just 3 tracks, all of which were made up while recording. These now form part of their current project – an infinite series of short run releases on CD-R through their label 9-pt records [ http://www.9-pt.com ].

Every 3 months they set up a temporary studio for 1 day to record whatever they can come up with. Almost all editing and arranging is done on the day, so there is only the occasional overdub, some cleaning up, and it's ready for mastering.
Each CD-R release is produced in multiples of 100 copies, with unique packaging. The first 3 releases are in collaboration with artist Garrett Phelan [ http://www.garrettphelan.com ], and will be available from 30 november at gigs and from [ http://www.9-pt.com ].

Peter also makes electronic music as Hardsleeper [ http://www.softsleeper.com/audio ]. Gavin and Ed are members of Cap Pas Cap [ http://www.cappascap.net ].
Tracks from their forthcoming releases can be heard at their myspace website [ http://www.myspace.com/threadpulls ]

FRENCH LETTER A

French Letter A is the much awaiting new project from the former Joan Of Arse vocalist. Joan Of Arse were once called "One of Dublin's most important bands" and French Letter A seem set to follow that same path. The much loved lyricist and guitarist utilises loops, swirls and various guitar effects to build up beautiful and intriging songs while all the time demanding your full attention. Although not having played many gigs, French Letter A has blown away audiences while sharing stages with Northstation, The Dudley Corporation and the recent Final Fantasy gig. Hopefully he will grace us with a release as soon as possible.
