It’s time to re-establish the connection between music and art.

In recent years, music has become more about business than art. The mechanics of music dissemination and distribution have taken over the discourse. The notions of influence and inspiration, the ideals which once propelled musicians to take up their instruments and make music, have become lost in a ceaseless babble about digital downloads and corporate mergers.

But music is more than just about business. Much, much more.

It’s time for Some Days Never End, an event which seeks to capture the imagination and scintillate the senses.

A series of happenings under the stars in one of the most beautiful settings in the capital city, Some Days Never End is where cutting-edge 21st century musicians and the most thought-provoking contemporary artist of the 20th century come together to play.

Located in three tented structures pitched in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the home of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Some Days Never End will apply equal weight to both music and art. Given the time of year, these structures will be heated. The third structure will feature the high standard wide ranging food and drink associated with POD Concerts festivals.

Besides the musical performances (see full list of artists below), Some Days Never End will also pay tribute to Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory, an apt homage to mark the 20th anniversary of the artist’s death.

The Factory is perhaps best known as a hip New York City hangout for the Warhol set with artists, musicians and creatives such as Lou Reed, John Cale, Bob Dylan, Truman Capote, Alan Ginsberg, Susan Sontag, Edie Sedgwick, Dennis Hopper and Candy Darling passing though it’s doors. Decorated in tin foil and silver paint by Warhol’s friend and Factory photographer Billy Name, the Silver Factory hummed day and night gaining a reputation as a centre for hedonism and decadence.

But from 1964 to 1968 the Factory also hummed with the whir of cameras and creativity, providing a physical and conceptual framework for a broad range of activity that pushed the boundaries of what art production can be and helped define our contemporary ideas of the role of the artist.

It was where art, music and film effortlessly and creatively came together.

Some Days Never End will feature key works from this hugely influential period, including iconic films such as Eat and Sleep, which will be specially chosen by the Model Arts and Niland Gallery who are presenting a wider exhibition of works from this period entitled The Eternal Now (running Oct 06-Dec 22)

At Some Days Never End, we are seeking to evoke the spirit of Warhol¹s Factory at a time of great creativity and excitement when music and art were coming together like never before.

Music over the 7 days will be provided by some of the finest live acts of the 21st century including The Pet Shop Boys who will be bringing their infectious blast of pop and dance for the first time in over 10 years to Dublin; mesmerizing guitarist Jose Gonzalez, following the success of his triple platinum debut album Veneer, will be performing songs from his brand new album In Our Nature; the balmy vocals and dreadlocked persona of Belfast’s finest vaudevillian son, Duke Special will be squeezing on to the stage his usual array of make shift instruments, stumpf fiddles, old gramaphones and velvet encased piano AND a full orchestra ; direct from Havana, Buena Vista Social Club will be presenting some of the finest Cuban music ever made; founding member of the Velvet Underground John Cale with his Acoustimatic Band; The Frames will be playing their only Irish date this year; electronic duo Groove Armada will be cementing their status as one of dance music’s most vital bands; high voltage heroes of contemporary Irish music, Kila; and Dizzee Rascal will be bringing his spellbinding live show to Dublin for the first time in two years. (see date and price for each gig below )

Some Days Never End is all about the spectacular. The thrill. The aesthetic. The imagination.
The style. The attention to detail. The sound ¬ and, of course, the vision.

Some Days Never End is presented by POD concerts in collaboration with The Model Arts and Niland Gallery and IMMA and supported by The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. The Model presents The Eternal Now, a wider exhibition of works from Warhol and the Factory, from 6 October to 22 December.
