Podcast 22 comes Mike Smalle. Hailing from Galway, Mike has written and produced 4 albums as Cane 141 in twice as many years. He has collaborated with such musical luminaries as Mark Eitzel (American Music Club) Sean O Hagan ( The High Llamas/Microdisney/Stereolab) and Cristian Vogel of Super_collider fame. A number of radio session have also been recorded over the years, most notably a John Peel session in 2001. In 2005 the album MoonPool was nominated for best Irish album of the year in the inaugural Choice Music Awards. In 2006, cane 141 collaborated with Roisin Coyle for the “ Lost At Sea” installation which they brought to New York in May 2007. Mike also writes music for film and documentaries including Tory Island which won an IFTA for best documentary and more recently a doc on the actor Gabriel Byrne called " Stories From Home." He is currently recording a new record due for release later this year.
