Seomra Scannán presents..
Guido Chiesa's Lavorare Con Lentezza - Radio Alice 100.6 MHZ
With a serving of yummy veggie curry beforehand.
Thursday, March 3rd
Seomra Spraoi
10 Belvedere Court
Drumcondra
€2 for movie, €3 for curry.
Food served at 7.30 p.m.
Movie around 8 p.m.
Blurb:
Set against the heady backdrop of the popular uprising in Bologna in 1977 ‘Radio Alice’ Lavorare Con Lentezza (Radio Alice, Working Slowly) dramatically tells the true story of a collectively run autonomous pirate radio station at the heart of the city’s historic events.
Uplifting, sexy, enraging, hilarious, romantic and defiant i...n equal measures, this film has it all, the sex, the drugs, the riots, the rock’n’roll, and the incompetent cops.
Those familiar with the more colourful dynamics of collectively run autonomous projects will find material here that resonates with their own experiences; the tensions between working class youth and the middle class leftist intellectuals, the pot smoking hippies vs the neurotic activists, the irritating doo gooder lawyers and community activists not forgetting the women activists challenging the prevailing culture of machismo and turning the sexual double standard on its head.
While definitely not to be missed if you’re in anyway connected to similar projects here, even for the unpolitical this film is definitely a good yarn and a feature film that stands on its own merits as a damned good flick.
