Pine Hill Haints
The Pine Hill Haints sound like a country infused Black Hearts Procession. Originally from Alabama, and now scattered through the South - mostly in Tennessee, The Haints bring a new sound to Southern roots music.

well i don't know about their musical talents but i remember these guys acted up a storm in 'deliverance'; i'd say they're worth checking out. drink kreemo

Oh those rockin Can Kickers!

When they played Kilcoole a while ago, they rocked out so hard things caught fire!
Plaster started falling out of the roof downstairs, which is a reliable indication of the quality of a hodown.
Also, the Pine hill haints bucket bassist knows Aaron Cometbus. What a legend!!ironyyy

However, why St. Patrick's Hall?!?!?!
I thought people would learn from experience, and I'm not trying to sound arrogant (why would I try to sound arrogant....?), but it's almost not worth having the gig at all if it's on at St. Pat's.
Small gigs in big halls just don't work! The main reason being that the sound is always absolutely shite, and then that there's never enough people to fill the place, making for bad atmosphere and self conscious (sober) dancing.
I know I'm not doing anything about it, but I do like to complain about everyone else's downfalls.

And tis in Cork too this weekend, and The Can Kickers will be on sattitude next Saturday morning just before 12

The Pine hill Haints and Can Kickers return to Cork again. If any of you saw them the last time you'll remember how insane their gigs are and how catchy the music is.

The Pine Hill Haints play a style of country music that predates the term country, and although it's essentially 1920s vintage, the sound predates recordings. The band consists of guitar, washtub bass, snare drum, washboard, and a bowed saw. Some mp3's of their music can be linked to below

The Can Kickers don't regurgitate old-time music. They take it, swallow it, and spit out something all their own. They have uptempos and independent spirit belonging to punk, while the rest of it belongs to the songs of old Appalachia where they are from. Mp3's of their music are available at these links

Belinus on the other hand have nothing atall to do with old time music but they have been talking for some time about doing their style of celtic war metal acoustically and will be doing just that on this night, maybe for one night only, who knows

no, i'm staying in listening to the girl in the room next to mine practice the oboe. i think she's ready to start putting notes together to make an entire scale any time now.
