I'm moving into a new place on 1st Feb and of course need to spruce up the current one to get as much or all deposit back...

We (guys) will get the obvious parts clean but we're thinking of a once off cleaner person giving the place a final tune up near the end of the month. Anybody know where to start? I assume the cleaner agencies would prefer a regular booking or would they sort us?

When I moved I just checked the bulletin board in my local Tesco. Figure it's around the same price as an agency but the money goes straight to them.

It was totally worth it, although when we moved into our current house the previous tenants had not shown the same courtesy. Even though there was no expectation that they would, I was a little miffed that I had to clean all over again when I'd left my own house spotless.

How dirty does your house have to be before you hire a cleaner?
Or is it just for people too busy to tidy?
I'd feel guilty paying someone to do something I just couldn't be arsed to do.

I don't like doing it.
I have no inclination as to what really needs doing.

It's not something that comes naturally to men.
I'd sooner pay someone. Preferably a woman.

Those things at the end of your arms can be 'handy' for picking things up with, maybe give them a go in the meantime? People have been using them for years! .|..|.|..|

I've tried that.
Only works for a while, within a few days the floor is covered in crap again.

I'm looking for a more reliable solution - other peoples' hands.

*sigh* he's too busy catalouging his The Fall bootleg cassettes to pick up all the MOJOs and WORD magazines cluttering the place up...
