2112 set to rock Dublin’s Button Factory
21st November 2015
Ireland’s premier Rush tribute band, 2112, will bring a spectacular audiovisual rock experience to Dublin’s Button Factory for a second time this year on Saturday 21st November 2015.
During the two an half hour gig 2112 will recreate the classic Rush era from 1974 to 1981, performing “Moving Pictures” in its entirety. Fans can also expect to hear Rush anthems including ‘Spirit of Radio’, ‘La Villa Strangiato and Xandadu. Whether it’s the guitar riff from ‘Bastille Day’, the bass solo from Freewill’ or the driving drums from every Rush song ever written, fans will find much to love about this gig.
2112 are of course named after Rush’s fourth album, released in 1976, now considered one of the seminal prog rock albums of all time. At the Button Factory gig not only will they be performing all of “Moving Pictures”, but the band will also perform ‘2112’, the twenty-minute seven-part title suite from the album.
The band have partnered with artist Carl McDonnell to create a truly stunning visual accompaniment to the show which will lead you through Neil Peart’s dystopian vision; down into the black holes of Cygnus X-1, a modern day city in “Camera Eye” and historical reminder of days past to “Witch Hunt”. The visuals and music combine to create an immersive and hypnotic Rush experience.
2112 are five professional musicians, composers and visual artist: Mick Lindsay - bass; Anthony T. Jones – guitars; K.J Murphy – vocals and keyboard; Ian Smyth - drums and percussion and Carl McDonnell-creative visuals. They are also lifelong friends and staunch Rush fans. Following on the heels their successful shows last spring they are commencing a small Irish tour in October which will culminate with the gig in the Button Factory 21st November.
