i'm looking at you red tape...

i want to get fuzzy crackling distorted sounding live vocals, similar to that of kim deals' cannonball efforts,
is the green bullet any good for this?

also i want a voice transformer, like the roland sp 404? but maybe something around one tenth of the price,
any recommendations?
thanks

I put on Jawbone here last year and he used the Hohner version of the green bullet mic, very broken tannoy speaker sound, part of the trick is he used it without an XLR cable, i.e. the cable he used ended in a guitar jack (low-z???) and this was plugged into a D.I. box, I think the noise of this unbalanced cable helped... then there was 20 mins of setting it up so it didn't feedback like a mother fucker...

I've seen folks like dEus set up what looks like the arm of a pop shield off the side of their main mic and stick a green bullet up there, so you can sing normal like, shout into the green bullet, sing normal, when you don't need the bullet bend the arm out of the way. Cool.

Green bullet might do it, yeah.
You could get a telephone wired up to an xlr or jack/di.
Hm.
You could get hold of a preamp that you like the sound of when overdriven and bring that to your gigs.
