A pair of intriguing triple headers are in store for Made on Mondays 2008, the second edition of our annual audit of new directions on the Dublin jazz and contemporary music scene. Bold explorations, freshly minted compositions and new instrumental line ups are waiting for adventurous ears in Dublin's most convivial and intimate venue for grown up listening, JJ Smyth's of Aungier Street. Six new projects showcase at this years MoM, in a broad stylistic church that embraces all points from folk music to electronica...

Trombonist Colm O'Hara is one of the city's most dynamic and engaging soloists, and here he steps up to the plate as leader with TheTroupe, a collective that explores free improv with within different instrumental and vocal contexts while Morla is among the new constellations emerging from The Bottlenote Collective, and sees saxophonist Seán Óg and guitarist Simon Jermyn pair up to explore microtonal folk melodies, live processing and an insistence on meaningful improvisation. To open, the industrious Nick Roth presents a taster of his new project around the dramatic songs of the Sephardic jews in a new group that includes the feted classical soprano Judith Mok.
