Someone here may know something about the ways of satellite technology, I have a SKY Digital Dish on the roof of my house but no digibox, if I get one of these €70 receivers what channels would I get free whilst pointed in whatever direction the SKY dishes are pointed to

Eh no, but you do get these Astra 1, Astra 2a, 2b, 2d, Eurobird, Eutelsat, Hotbird etc.

Satellite boxes come either able to view free to air or encrypted channels.
This free to air box has a good spec for the money if free t oair is what your after.

If your dish is one of the newer smaller dishes it will be pointing at 28 degrees east, the satellite sky uses at the moment. on this you will be able to get bbc 1, 2, 3, 4 and assorted bbc radio, sky news, a couple of pop channels and loads of shopping channels etc, realy the quality you will get is in the bbc stations, anythign else good is encrypted by sky.

if tis one of the old dishes its likely to be pointing at 19 east which sky used to use which is now used by lots of free to air staions, unfortunately mostly in german, french etc, a lot of mtv type stations free mind. its easy enough to move them to 28 east, i can advise ya if you want.

so if your into bbcs probably worth getting, if you want ot get into satellite tv seriously you need a box that can take cards for decryptign signals.
while at present there is a huge number of hacked stations in europe including english language ppv films, sport etc you could get in ireland to do so would be illegal and (ahem) thus not very appropriate:D

Can you get the gay porno channels?

Ive just seen this ad- I recently had to call ntl because I plan to move my tv to the other side of the room- to get this done by ntl costs 50 quid! Well a trained technician has to install it...on a day that suits him, not you...
Anyway aweek and a half alter he's due to call in on Saturday morning, if he can be arsed.

So what Id like to know is does anyone know if this thing from Lidl will allow me to simply extend the cables from the ntl yoke on the wall myself? It looks like it's got the same connectors and It'd give me great personal satisfaction to tell ntl I dont need them after all

I'm referring to the "cable tv extension set"- it sounds like it will work but then this is the shop that sold an inflatable bed and an electric pump- that doesnt work on the inflatable bed

so im just trying to make sure..

The dish thats on the roof of my place is pointing to the current Sky Astra satellite and it is BBC I'm actually after but I'm wondering if RTE is actually encrypted on that as well because my reception is not the best on RTE2 while the other channels are generally Ok but a good digital reception would blow them out of the water and I'd have BBC as well :)

error, rte is encrypted but if ya want bbc this is good for the money.

naplam - european tv peoepl will show anything where there is a buck to be made so the answer is yes - no homophobia when it comes to porn, this is either very right on or very not righton depending on your point of view. you can always just tune out those stations anyway - tis easy.

johny - the connector is meant for the very job you need doing.

Cheers for that Conor, over to Lidl in the morning ( Thursday special )

Fuck me! Just back from Lidl- the place was going crazy, huge queues ,people running out the doors with their sattellite dishes, the tension was mad! It was so hyper i found myself wanting to buy one too! There were people queing since 10 last night- at all the lidl branches around town.
It was a good offer but come on! a bit of dignity people!

So i elbowed some people out of the way and got my cables, all done with panache, hope it works now
