Hankies at the ready, ladies – the two Johns are outta here. Leaving behind them a thousand crushed hearts and a million shattered dreams, they're off to further their already-extensive education in the city of Limerick. Gangsta styles. The good news is that they're having one more hee-hawing, back-slapping shindig before they board their private jet, don their shades and wave a nonchalant peace sign to the rebel county for the last time. They're re-introducing the Beat-The-Clock DJ extravaganza which initially appeared in Tralee about 2 years ago. The premise? Get a load of your mates & affiliates to play a short set of bangers when their name gets randomly picked out of the hat - and in the meantime, get drunk and do some dancing. However, the catch is that they have TWENTY MINUTES Exactly, not a second more, not a second less. Security will be on hand to bang the gong and smack the dj in the kisser if they go over time. The Kerrynini ethos has always been “variety is the spice of life”, so this event is one way to ensure that you don't end up dancing to any one type of music for more than 20 minutes throughout the night. Expect to hear some traditional Balkan madness after some Devo followed by some early LL Cool J. Thats just how we roll. The people selected to help with the dj-ing duties have all been of tremendous help to Kerrynini throughout the last year – without them, Kerrynini PROBABLY wouldn't be the world-dominating musical enterprise that it is today – so we really appreciate all these good folk being so kind as to spin some of their favourite records for you to dance to. And since its the lads' last night in Cork, we really would encourage ye folk to go outta your way to do some dancing, shout loudly, burn your bras and generally make sure that a ruckus is created of apocalyptic proportions. To quote that posh washed-up has-been Sophie Ellis Baxter, we want “murder on the dance-floor”. All proceeds on the door go to the worthy yet humble cause simply known as the J.N.E.T. (Johns Need Euros Too), which will ensure that the two scientists of sound don't become hungry & emaciated during the tough studious year ahead of them.
Smell the glove, rub the love, and just have some fun.
