A chairde,
Táimihd ág teacht ar "Kerryníní" uímbhre a cuig and this month we are very proud to present Waterfords premier music collective. So good, in fact, that they don't even have a name yet! Doesn't matter though, coz they're class. Oh, and they also run the Blaa-blaa.com site. This collaboration features two well established Waterford DJ’s (DAZ and Martin Roche) and legendary percussionist Simon Merryman (Floyd soul and Torainn). Usually the collective includes flute, sax, trumpet and harmonica players but due to circumstances beyond their control, the band will only be a three piece this time round.
Both Daz and Martin have had regular slots supporting DJ’s such as Kerri Chandler, Kenny Dope and Felix da Housecat. Simon Merrymans other project with Floyd soul has received rave reviews and their recent EP “Welcome to the woods” was chosen as Hot Press pick of the fortnight at the beginning of the month. The night promises to be filled with classic house grooves laden down with some seriously funky percussion.
To open the festivities on the night, the lads are bringing with them another Waterford heavy weight, hip hop DJ Jay Ru. Jay has supported the likes of the Scratch perverts and Andy Smith from Portishead. He also holds residencies in Shakedown and Get Down both of which are popular nights in the sunny South East. Kerrynini residents Johnny Doobs, King Dumb and Themanwithnoname will also be on hand for the ruckus.
As mentioned above Kerrynini is now up to night number five and looks like its here to stay, thanks to the support everyone has shown us to date. We hope that you'll continue to help us so that we can keep kickin' the truth to the Kerry youth.
Arís go raibh míle míle maith agat agús feicimíd tú ar an 28th.
