JEZERY EP LAUNCH
W/ SPECIAL GUESTS TEN PAST SEVEN (KERRY) AND TINA TURBO (LIMERICK)
FRIDAY MARCH 23RD | UNDERGROUND AT BAKER PLACE, TAIT SQ, LIMERICK
DOORS 9PM | ADM €5
FOLLOWED BY DJ SET FROM JOHNNY DOOBS

Jezery formed in late 2004/early 2005 amongst the doomed and dusty rubble of two bands. Ted Murphy and Shane O' Leary had been playing together for years as friends and also with many other musicians in different bands. Funking around with psychedelia, electronica, acoustica, and many other genres ending in 'a', the two lads had played many gigs but rarely in a consistent line-up. Jimmy Lyons and Shane O' Sullivan had been playing together for about two years, also in various line-ups (including a brief non-sexual affair with Ted Murphy in Mindscape). Jezery essentially came about as a result of four friends and musicians who were sick of dabbling here and there in music when it was all that they really enjoyed and loved.

Since then they've played extensively in Cork in almost every possible venue, and have had gigs up and down the country. Their first E.P. "Be Wide", an eight track demo sold hundreds of copies at gigs since, and they are currently touring their second release "Six Sided Clothes", which displays a more heavy and progressive sound of the band. Descriptions of Jezery usually include a mish-mash of Tom Waits, The Beatles, Primus, King Crimson and many more, but influences rarely grasp the full sound of a band.

The debut Limerick headliner in support of "Six Sided Clothes" for this Cork outfit will take place on Friday March 23rd, Underground at Baker Place. Joining them on the night will be Ten Past Seven and Tina Turbo.

Ten Past Seven are a three-piece instrumental shower from Kerry, that last year released their debut album "Shut Up Your Face" on Limerick Independent label, Out On A Limb Records. The CD sold so well that they have made it into the charts and are now ridiculously rich. All three members are now looking into buying villas in remote parts of the world.
"Few live experiences come close to matching Ten Past Seven in full flight... Ten Past Seven succeed in kicking out more exhilarating jams than the vast majority of their peers... first noteworthy Irish release of the year" The Ticket (Irish Times) 4/5

Tina Turbo are a brand new band straight outta Limerick. Again, plying their trade as an instrumental outfit, their sound veers from proggy post-rock to mathcore.Or something like that...

After the gig, Kerrynini overlord Johnny Doobs promises to leave the women of Limerick swooning, while the men will just be plain jealous. Otherwise he owes us a tenner. As a turntablist and mc, he's played in every nook and cranny around Ireland as part of Metabolix, The Foot, The Rootdown DJ collective and the mighty Lung Donors, supporting such most excellent folk as Buck 65, Edan & Insight, Beans, The P-Brothers, The Chalets (girls), Associated Minds, Scary Eire, The Pharcyde, Supernatural & DJ Noize, B+, DJ Tu-KI, ChoiceCut DJs, MJEX, etc. A specially commissioned (?!)set for this gig will see Doobs play a selection of rockin n' hoppin' lady-killing tunes...Recognise...

Fiver gets you in...Kicks off at 9 bells; rolls on til 2am(ish)

Roll on Limbo!

I'm due to become a godfather the following day, so debauchery will have to be kept to an absolute minimum. Don't want to drop any babies now, do I?

great...place was jammers in the end...if anyone's getting married, get Johnny Doobs in as the dj...supertastic set, and dressed like a pikey while doing it...
