trying to get footage from mini dv tape onto a dvd-
when I open up idvd-one step dvd, it rewinds the tape in the camera but says it can't capture any of the footage and the programme quits out,
any suggestions as to why?
I'm pretty sure the connection is fine because when I go to capture footage in final cut pro, both video and audio can be captured.
idvd seems alot handier though!

Dunno why that shite rewinds...
so instead...
Capture into final cut pro...
Enter into timeline...
Export sequence using compressor... path file>export>export using compressor
in compressor render footage: audio as aiff and video as m2v or mpeg2...
In iDVD open new project, import new files into new folder...
Hit burn
put kettle on...

or the easier route:
imovie>capture>edit to sequence>send to idvd>burn
or
capture in whatever>find file>drop raw dv file into idvd>burn

Ian's way is the best. the way of the wise, but seeing as you're trying for a one step idvd, it doesn't seem like you're into too much effort on this.

in any case, here's a search of the apple idvd user forum:
http://discussions.info.apple.com/[email protected]@.68a4770c
the one salient suggestion i found said - try getting it to work in imovie (just get the video to show up) then try the dvd thing.
