"Like the Feelies or Modern Lovers before them, the group wears its quirkiness as a kind of badge of honour." - Pitchfork

"The band Nodzzz, from San Francisco, thinks harder, worries more and sings earnestly about how life goes by too quickly.” - New York Times

"Clearly inspired by Jonathan Richman's quirky madness." - The Guardian

Nodzzz are Athens GA. kids Sean Paul, Anthony Atlas, and Eric Butterworth.

They're sweet dudes with an even sweeter sound, first honed on a killer single called "(I Don't Wanna) Smoke Marijuana" b/w "We Are the Only Animals," released on Eric's Make a Mess imprint. Barely three minutes long, each side tore the face off of the last days of 2007, revealing a candy skeleton that had the Modern Lovers' teeth marks in it.

The group's self-titled debut is a grower, with ten new songs in a markedly more pop direction. You can hear the simple American pleasures of baseball, road trips and late summer plain as day. More specifically, you can hear three guys examining where punk became something more, between notions of power pop and advanced songwriting on the Embarrassment/Big Dipper/ Pointed Sticks axis, but with the economy of the Minutemen or Beat Happening. They're in and out before you know it, having firmly planted the seeds of catchy melodies between your ears.

The band will be releasing Is She There on digital download only on August 10 prior to the release of their debut for What’s You’re Rupture on 24th August.

So Cow is Brian Kelly and friends. Kelly releases super-smart razor-blade indie-pop records and splits his between his base in Seoul and his home of Tuam, and, more recently, has been touring everywhere in between. Of his latest eponymous collection Pitchfork wrote: If you've ever been young and unlucky in love, the Irish multi-instrumentalist has a song that will strike exactly that kind of emotional chord. Like Television Personalities or the Clean at their most engaging, Kelly plays rickety guitar-pop that sounds homemade without feeling insular. www.myspace.com/socow

The Mighty Atomics are a Dublin based Surf group completing the line-up. Like a Mmd-Atlantic nuclear weapon detonation, they cross the raw power of their heroes The Sonics with the nervous energy of early British beat-groups to create their wild, pounding and twanging sound. www.myspace.com/mightyatomics
