“They have crafted the most thoughtful, fresh and rollicking album you're likely to hear this year. At the forefront of a new, urgent, hip-hop.” – The Independent
“Witty, fearless and original” - **** Mojo
“Sharp, literate and philosophically wide-ranging, Pip’s rhymes brim with warm and witty insights…” - Time Out
“Invention, intelligence and - crucially - passion” - **** DJ
On their debut album Angles, Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip made the most eccentric, entertaining and original debut of 2008. In constant contention with perceived wisdom and at issue with the sanctity of pop-culture’s sacred cows, Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip have become the new faces of “outsider pop”.
Since March 2007 they have undertaken multiple UK, US and European tours. The band have also appeared at the Glastonbury Festival, Reading and Leeds Festival 07 and 08, Bestival 07 and 08, Lowlands, Fuji Rock Festival, Coachella, Monolith Festival and have also supported RJD2, EL-P, Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx and Fujiya & Miyagi.
Having served up an album of the year’s most pertinent pop polemics, Dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip recently teamed up with De La Soul’s Pos Plug Won, for a reworking of their killer calling card THOU SHALT ALWAYS KILL to be released this month on Sunday Best.
With De La Soul, Pos Plug Won became an arch exponent of accessible conscious rap. He joins Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip to rework the duo’s transcendent hit single that leapt from their bedroom studio onto the airwaves early last year. It comes with remixes from Friction & K-Tee, The Losers (Eddy Temple Morris) and Drop The Lime, plus a Sunday Best Cosmic Dub mix. Check out TSAK’s reworking here:
A spoof video posted on YouTube shows the pair auditioning for The X-Factor in front of Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh. The clip was featured in "The 10 Best Clips of the Month" in the October 2008 edition of Q magazine.
