Long Beach, California’s Crystal Antlers have been tearing it up all over the place with their mix of soul-tinged, psych-rattled blues.
They first began turning heads in 2008 with their recording debut, EP, a release that was produced by Ikey Owens (Mars Volta) and noted for its blend of psychedelic, garage rock, and prog rock sounds.
And if the words “chimney sweep” and “soul psychedelia” don’t go together in your mind, they just may after you take a listen to EP. When the band first formed, three of its members were in fact working as chimney sweeps and playing out constantly in Southern California. Getting dirty by day and by night, the band recorded two 7-inch singles before settling down to record their debut.
Formed in January 2006, Jonny Bell (bass, vocals, woodwinds), Andrew King (guitar, organ), Victor Rodriguez (organ), Kevin Stuart (drums), and Damian Edwards (percussion) soon developed a reputation for eccentric live shows and have earned comparisons to Comets on Fire and Les Savy Fav.
Their summer of 2008 was filled with the punk rock mischief of touring cross-country on a vegetable oil-powered school bus as part of the F Yeah Fest, taking massive orders for their self-released EP through their myspace page, and on downtime, drinking beers in percussionist Damian's empty pool.
The L.A outfit signed with Touch and Go Records in August that year who reissued their EP in October, with its first ever pressing on vinyl in November. A new full-length album is due for release in early 2009.

Darker my Love are an indie psychedelic rock band based in Los Angeles, California. Tim Presley, a former member of The Fall and The Nerve Agents contributes vocals and guitar. Andy Granelli, formerly a member of both The Nerve Agents and The Distillers, plays drums. Rob Barbato, ex Fall member, plays bass and shares lead vocal duties and Jared Everett plays rhythm guitar. Will Canzoneri joined the band on organ and clavinet in late 2006. The group's style is often compared to Can and My Bloody Valentine. Their second album 2, was released on Dangerbird Records in August 2008.
