Hiya, I'm subscribed to emusic and I find it pretty good but sometimes find it hard to find 90 tracks a month I wanna download from it.
Anyone got any recommendations?
Are there many Irish albums on it?
That Congolese (?) album someone posted a link to was amazing.

Try:-

Tabu Ley Rochereau
The Ethiopiques series
Everything on Young God Records
Lots of Matador stuff
Big Dada Records (TTC and Clouddead)
Some great Tom Zé
The Sonic Youth SYR albums
All the Smithsonian Folkways Stuff
All the Shanachie/Yazoo blues stuff
The Daytrotter compilations (free!)
Much classic Jazz (Mingus / Coltrane / Monk / Davis)
Everything by Guided By Voices!!!!
etc. etc. etc.
Finally, check out the Dozens for more inspiration:-

The new Michael Knight album "I'm Not Entirely Clear How I Ended Up Like This" (actually out in April) is on emusic (& Itunes) now.

Also:

Saint Thomas - There's Only One of Me
The Positions - Bliss!
Suburban Kids with Biblical Names - #3

& coming soon to emusic....but available on Itunes now:

Soda Fountain Rag - It's Rag Time!

Used to be that you could sign up once per credit card number, then cancel...

www.emusic.com/ge gets you 100 free downloads if you look like a new customer.

Best things I've downloaded were Richard Youngs' Sapphie and a bunch of Arthur Russell stuff (Springfield EP, Loose Joints, etc.). I didn't keep it going after the free trial ended, though, in part because I couldn't pay the subscription by debit card and in part because I'm happy buying higher-bitrate tracks off Bleep/Boomkat whenever I feel like mp3 shopping.

The best thing about Emusic is that charging is done per track so jazz/whatever albums with two or three long tracks turn out really cheap. On the other hand, some classical albums have around 50 tracks, meaning that nobody would ever download them...

Damn it, i just signed up for the 50 offer and missed out on the 100. Apparently the acts you download during your trial period dont get paid.

I guess thats why a lot of major labels are not on emusic
