Star-Studded Concert Series for Cork This Summer Thursday, March 3, 2005 – Aiken Promotions proudly present Cork 2005 Live at the Marquee, a two-week star-studded season of music and comedy, taking place this summer in a specially designed marquee in the Cork Showgrounds. Some of the biggest acts in Ireland and from abroad will perform over the two weeks, 30th June – 17th July, Live at the Marquee ensuring that this lavish, purpose-built bit top will be the city’s entertainment hub for the duration. The details of the Concert Series were unveiled earlier today at a press conference in Cork.
BRIAN WILSON will launch the Cork 2005 Marquee extravaganza on June 30, the first ever appearance by the Beach Boy, who gave the world such seminal albums as “Pet Sounds” and “Smile”, in the southern capital.
The season will continue with exclusive Cork performances from international artists AL GREEN, NICK CAVE, DWIGHT YOAKAM, and GYPSY KINGS, Irish legends VAN MORRISON, CHRISTY MOORE and PAUL BRADY and such hugely popular acts as TOMMY TIERNAN, PADDY CASEY, RONAN KEATING, ASLAN and BRIAN McFADDEN more to be announced.
With a capacity to accommodate 4,000 people Cork 2005 Live at the Marquee really is the only place to be this summer.
“We are delighted to be bringing some of the best Irish and International acts available to Cork this summer for Cork 2005 Live at the Marquee,” said Peter Aiken, Aiken Promotions. “None of the international acts have ever appeared here and it seems most appropriate to bring them and our hugely popular Irish artists, to the southern capital this summer. We are certain the series will be a huge success and the varied line-up ensures that there is something for people of all ages and musical tastes to enjoy.”
The two-week star-studded series will begin on June 30, 2005 with a performance by BRIAN WILSON, and run until July 17, 2005.
