Richer Than Astronauts

Formed in 2002, Richer Than Astronauts (RTA) are a five-piece Dublin band.
Inevitably, their music has been likened to that of various artists, all
well liked and of good pedigree. Think Pere Ubu/Talking Heads/Blue Orchids,
with various members having previously played in an array of other groups
such as Jubilee Allstars, Absent Friends, Cotton Ostrich and The Doolittles.
February 2006 saw the release of their debut recording - Consumer Unit #1 -
a six-song CDR unhelpfully straddling the categories of EP and mini-album.

Martin Kelly from Dublin has spent the last two and a bit years playing supports around Dublin. Initially this was a one man and guitar act but has since become a full live band.
Songs were conceived on a four track tape machine have now been transformed into a finished debut album "Dressing Up" which was recorded and produced by long time friend and singer Joe Chester. It is first and foremost a collection of honest pop songs. It's simply about escape, and that strange end of summer feeling. It's just is what it is!

Cry Yuma

Cry Yuma are a 4-piece from Kildare, now based in Dublin. After 3 years of unconventional song structuring, radically shifting dynamics and periodic tea drinking bouts, they release 3 songs from their recently recorded demo sessions this October. They have been informed by and compared to bands such as Pavement, Television, Pinback, Radiohead and such. A debut EP will be released Summer '07.

"Cry Yuma are very good indeed…right from the hip-galvanising opening riff to Cruel Irony it’s clear they could be serious contenders. Three songs in and the four-piece’s concepts and ambitions are even more apparent – in amongst the soaring, dynamic riffs, there are surprising tempo shifts and occasionally mind-boggling structural experimentations which put their overall effect a good bit to the left of ‘bog standard indie’….Tracks like No Moon No Sun and By All Means still indicate they are finding their own sound with which to devastate. Ignore everything in the background for now; Cry Yuma are certainly worth watching."
