A4 Sounds "is a wind up!" - Sunday 1st November @ The Back Loft

______________________________..______________________________..________

Hi everyone,

A4 Sounds is back again for their third large scale exhibition and this time we've gone 3D!

We invite you to come along wearing 3D GLASSES which you can download and print, colour in and cut out to ensure you take in everything we have to offer on the day! Expect to get your hands dirty as we are asking you to paint large scale canvases, cut out and colour 3D sculptures, push, pull and turn the gears of wondiferous wind-up creations!

For this show we have 10 amazing artists taking part from a range of backgrounds: textiles, sculpture, engineering, model making, photography, print and paint; based in Dublin, Galway and Toronto.

As with all our large shows there will be live music from 5 Irish Acts and its a BYOB affair, so come down, have a drink, dance to some incredible music and take part in another great show.

This exhibition will take place on Sunday 1st November in THE BACK LOFT c/o La Catedral Studios, 7/11 St. Augustine St (off Thomas St), D8. Info www.lacatedralstudios.org.

Thanks to Antonella and all at the back loft for the use of this amazing space.

It is 6 euros into this event. A4Sounds is a non-profit organisationand all the money goes towards materials for our shows so we can keep them interactive.

SCURVY LASS
Scurvy Lass is the sea shanty-singing alter ego of Niamh de Barra, a Dublin-based cellist and vocalist. She started life as a classical pianist, but long sea voyages forced her to take up a more portable means of letting off steam. She records, samples and processes short loops to make noisy electronic songs with citrus-sweet lyrics. After a summer of gigging, playing at Second Square to None, the !K Club, and Ruby Sessions in Dublin, A4 Sounds in Belfast, and Rathlin Jigs and Rigs on the beautiful Rathlin Island, she is now recording her debut EP. Comparisons to her music include, "Enya crossed with My Bloody Valentine" and "that blue opera singer from The Fifth Element", neither of which are very accurate at all....

The first five of these are: “Sleepy EP” (Feb 09), “now it’s for everyone/now it’s for noone EP” (Feb 09), “Wiiiiiiiiiiide Awake EP” (March 09), “As It Happens pts 1-5” (April 09) and “i am leaving home EP” (April 09) just before heading to America for 2 months. DECLAN Q KELLY

Declan Q Kelly is a young man whose middle name does not begin with Q. This is not important. What is important is that when he makes a mistake you will not notice it, such is his musical styling. Whether this is a good or bad thing remains to be seen and/or heard.

SGT SPARKLY PANTS
Sgt Sparkly Pants harnesses the power of the wolf and the spirit of Princess Diana.

Sgt Sparkly Pants rose through the ranks to become the world's leading science nay-sayer. Her book "What the f*%k has science ever done for us anyway" gained her noteriety in the early noughties. Her claims to have invented the popped collar are unsubstantiated at this time.
