    Coffee

v60 is cool, coffee is yum but temperature suffers because it takes so long. I always end up putting the coffee in the microwave for 30 seconds

Have you changed your grind to suit the Aeropress? I can't remember which, but it either needs to be coarser or finer than an espresso machine or mokka pot. I think coarser. There's a gazillion internet articles on it, but it does make a big difference

oh also, and I never knew this before, but you have to always put the full amount of water in, up to the line, otherwise the pressure levels aren't right, it seems

Oh, and I fall into the school of never washing the pot with soap, just a rinse with water, let the coffee oils build up

What he said. Pre boil the water (so the coffee spends less time exposed, makes it less bitter). The grind size matters a lot too, aim for in between castor sugar and regular sugar. Don't compress the coffee and take it off the heat one it starts sputtering. I find that all pretty...

Get thee to Shop | Imbibe Coffee Roasters The Kaleidoscope house blend is my normal coffee, but if you sign up to this coffee club, he occasionally imports utterly insanely yum coffees. 1% of his turnover goes to Women's Aid, and he's generally just the soundest of blokes. He doesn't normally do...

A lot of the bitterness comes from the roasting though, I think. It's why most Italian coffee is terrible, it's hugely over roasted (method started when they had to start using shitty beans during the war and it stuck).

I've taken the Civit Cat coffee method to the next level. I swallow the beans, shit them out, then make a lovely cortado. That way I get to enjoy each bean twice!

On another note, good beans are feckin' expensive, and about the only regular shop ones I like are the Lidl espresso ones from the Italian range, when they get them in. Noticed TKMaxx had loads of fancy looking beans the other day, anyone ever try them?

    Coffee

Yep. I was a zealous user of the Moka pot, but got a present of an Aeropress. It's even easier/quicker to use and makes better coffee, only use the moka pot now if I need to make a few coffees at the one time. Gary from imbibe coffee was telling me that short of spending several thousand on a...
