What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I like The Great Gatsby, even though I was forced to read it the first time... tragic, but accessible... I think everyone knows a "Gasby"

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I also prefered the Secret Agent to Heart of Darkness, although I enjoyed both very much. I enjoyed At Swim Two Birds much more when I gave up trying to figure out what the hell was going on. I'm currently reading The Wind in the Willows.

I bought it second-hand. It's a good way to pick them up relatively inexpensively, bought 5 or 6 a couple of weeks ago. I'm really enjoying it too. Just starting a story about Pongo's Uncle Fred. I think Uncle Fred is one of Wodehouse's most underrated characters.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

"Young Men in Spats" by P.G. Woodehouse. Short stories told by Eggs and Crumpets in the Drones Club about the adventures of some other Eggs, or are they Crumpets. Woodehouse never fails to have me laughing out loud.

eoghan_dubhdara, those are two great books. I'm reading "Family Affair" one of the Rex Stout, Nero Wolfe novels. Sometimes cheesy crime/detective stories. Nice and light and entertaining as my last 'for fun' reading for a while. As soon as I finish it I'll be focusing on philosophical...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I'm currently reading Nancy Drew mysteries at the rate of one a night. They're not very well written but strangely compelling. I last read them when I was 5 or 6 so it's a bit nostalgic. Discovered them gathering dust in my parent's place last weekend and decided to rescue them. I justify...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Just finishing "Shroud for a Nightingale" by P.D. James, felt like something that wasn't too heavy after all the course reading of the last few months. Enjoyable read, I like the characterisation and the narrative style she uses. Not sure what's next but I have plenty of as yet unread books...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Yep, these are course related reading too. Caleb Williams does get marginally more interesting after a while, but doesn't get any easier to read. TRIPE! And that's exactly what I intend to say if I have to do an assignment or write an exam answer on it.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Well, I'm coming to The Awakening from having forced myself to read about half of Caleb Williams before getting so sick of it that I couldn't face another page. Talk about a breath of fresh air.
