Andrew Bird - These Are Not Constructions

While I don't think a festival like Forbidden Fruit is the ideal showcase for him (though I'd say the same for Atlas Sound), I'm glad he's coming back. The new album is impressive - even still, I've been surprised by the reaction: 5 stars in the Guardian! Thought Armchair and Mysterious...

    YACHT

I've heard it, yeah. Psychic City is good and the live show is fun. Though when I saw them about a week and a half ago some people in the crowd were convinced they were miming to backing tracks.

    David Thomas Broughton anyone?

I'll second that. Probably more realistic to expect to see him supporting someone else, though he has a new album out later this year, so y'never know. I see he has a video on FiumeNights this week, though it's not workin' now! Still don't think his live show has ever been done justice on...

Foggy Notions presents...Grizzly Bear, Vicar St., Nov 1st

A friend of mine was at ATP this year and said he had a chance to approach all of the group at various times, that they were very friendly and even told him what cabin they were staying in and to knock on by. Ed was extremely nice when I met him, but even if Grizzly Bear were a shower of...

David Thomas Broughton + Magic Arm - Eurocultured, Smithfield - Sat 16th

I haven't seen this being mentioned anywhere but just in case you didn't know, Magic Arm and David Thomas Broughton will both being performing sets at the 'Club Brenda' marquee this Saturday at Eurocultured in Smithfield - and it's free. For anyone who hasn't seen Broughton's live show before...

    Music magazines

Personally I find it a bit sad that in 11 pages of a thread about music magazines there's very little mention of quality writing. I don't think any new music magazine can survive in Ireland just out of the sheer amount of apathy.

Ack, the excited thread topic is a bit misleading there - I thought Holy Fuck were (albeit inappropriately) appearing

    Fleet Foxes V Dan Deacon

Ha, I thought I was alone in this. Gig-going is possibly my number one past time (six gigs in six nights last week), yet I've started to notice that part of me is suffering through the experience. It's moments like the above, getting stuck beside talkers in a cramped Whelan's, that make me...

    Fleet Foxes V Dan Deacon

By the way, did anyone see a merch stand at their gig in Whelan's? Didn't see one in the usual place. I was looking to buy the gate-fold double vinyl that includes the Sun Giant EP.

    SHEARWATER cancelled

That could be a big enough break for them. The new album is beautiful. I will not, however, be catching them at a Coldplay gig.
