    Thumped Cover Challenge No.3 - "The Years" - 1979

Thanks Crumb, I had great intentions of sticking a darker glitchy beat on it... try to be cutting edge, and all... but in the end I succumbed to the sprit of Earth Wind and Fire, and once I threw that hi-hat disco beat on it, there was no looking back!

    Thumped Cover Challenge No.3 - "The Years" - 1979

Cheers Pissypants...I only melodyned the acoustic guitars on the outro (the part that keeps going higher and higher). Apart from that, as an experiment, I robbed a MIDI version of the song off t'internet, re-arranged it into 4 single note lines and painstakingly recorded those lines twice (8...

    Thumped Cover Challenge No.3 - "The Years" - 1979

Cheers Wilbert...I just sang every line about 8 times, and threw them altogether...couldn't be bothered whittling down each take, so ended up with a choir of Beanstalks! Then I gave the last few bars in the Outro the castration treatment using Melodyne.

    celemony - Melodyne

I prefer Melodyne as you have much more control, and its visually more intuitive, so is great if you need to fix prominent (lead) vocals, and you have some time on your hands. Also great for creating harmonies. Autotune is better at fixing vocals in a few clicks, so you can work quicker with...

An ideal short course would go into the practical things like mic positioning mic types/selection room sizes/shapes/reverb signal flow, sends, inserts Compression/EQ Quality/strengths/weaknesses of different outboard gear & desks session back-ups and formats (RADAR/DAT) baffling loads of...

    Thumped Cover Challenge No.3 - "The Years" - 1979

Hmmm....I see The Undertones released their eponymous album in 1979 which included "Teenage Kicks", so what better opportunity to flaunt a version I did (for that Today FM thingy last year)... http://www.mediafire.com/?1he97mdwk0b I'm still gonna do another 1979 one this month though.
