What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I am enjoying Crash and I will return to it; I've also been doing a bit of reading about Ballard's childhood background and its influence on his writing which is interesting. Incidentally I found a good book recently by Iain Sinclair called My Favourite London Devils which includes a terrific...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Trudged through the last few chapters of Sebald's Rings of Saturn, which I did not enjoy as much as Austerlitz, and feel fairly sure I do not need to read another Sebald as long as I live. I dabbled a bit with Ballard's Crash, but left it after a few chapters - for the moment. Now onto Midnight...

I've recently read my first book by Stefan Zweig, The Post Office Girl, and I absolutely loved it. Picked up a novella of his called Chess recently and that was also fantastic, so am looking out for more of his. I'm currently reading WG Sebald's Austerlitz. I'd guess a few Thumpeders might have...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I was sick the past few weeks, so while I was languishing in my sick bed I read Reservoir 13 by Jon McGregor, which I loved (but I love all his books anyway); Midwinter Break by Bernard McClaverty which was brilliant and The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett which was great fun. I'm currently...

Recent reading has been Eminent Hipsters by Donald Fagan, which is fantastic. The Free by Willy Vlautin - A good read; spare, well written but pretty downbeat. I've just started He Wants by Alison Moore who is my current favourite author. Great stuff.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I thought it was great actually. It's tough going in parts, and it's quite long winded, but I really enjoyed it even still. The writing is terrific. Have you read it?

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I took a mini-break from Moby Dick to read All Quiet on the Orient Express by Magnus Mills, which is great fun; really surreal and brilliant. Highly recommended. I'm now on a 2nd mini break to read Graham Greene's, Our Man in Havana. Then it'll be back to that bloody whale.
