This is a great little read. I picked it up for 2 bones in Galway, which was nice. It's mad how many facets of history you hear about but are completely ignorant of.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I read about 50 pages of Fintan O'Toole's latest one today. He's a very good writer of stuff like this. Very easy to digest, although disheartening to read. It's over 200 pgs long but I suspect I'll be recommending it to people. He's suggesting solutions to our clusterfuckaroo of problems, which...

Well I just finished Roth's Nemesis there. It's good but I didn't like it as much as I liked Indignation. Definitely better than The Humbling, thank fuck.

I quite enjoyed the forensic analysis our English teacher did of the Mayor Of Casterbridge when we were studying it at LC. I'd say at college level it's a different kettle of grenades.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Just got this today and only about 20 pages in, Phillip Roth's Nemesis. It's another novella, his fourth in a row, here's hoping it's more like Indignation and less like The Humbling, which was a pile of shite. It's set during a Polio epidemic in New Jersey in 1944.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Liberation by William Hitchcock. It's a harrowing account of the impact of the end of the war on civilians in Europe. I found it very readable if a tad grim.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I read call mother a lonely field by Liam Carson in work today. It is a memoir, focusing mainly on his years growing up in Belfast, his parents, and the family's relationship with the Irish language. It is brief, only a little over 100 pages long. I had read a sterling review of it in the Sunday...
